CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE REFRESH: THE DINING ROOM PLAN

I'm so excited to be spilling the beans about a new project that kicks off today!  I'm joining a fabulous group of talented, sweet bloggers that are working over the next few weeks to each refresh a space in their home.  Everyone is choosing whatever space they want to work on, hence the "Choose Your Own Adventure Refresh" theme!  (Anyone else remember those books? They were a childhood favorite of mine!)  Today, each of us will be sharing the space we plan to take on, as well as some before photos and our plans for the room.  Next week, we'll share our progress, and at the end of the month we'll share the reveal.  Whew!  This is a quick one!   (*This post may contain affiliate links, read my  full disclosure policy here .)   For the next two weeks I'm going to be working feverishly to refresh my......   DINING ROOM!  Here's how the space looked on Monday just before I set the table for Valentine's Day : ......

2022 CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR | DINING ROOM AND BREAKFAST NOOK

Happy Friday, I can't believe we're just 9 days away from Christmas!  I'm so excited to share more of my Christmas home tour with you today, I hope you enjoy this peek at the Dining Room and Breakfast Nook.   I wanted my decorations to have a collected, vintage feel to them this year with some plaid in the mix too! I parted from  my super bold hot pink that I've used for the past few years and focused on more traditional red and green this year, but with a softer pink and plenty of other colors still in the mix as well. I gathered up a variety of trees and arranged them for a centerpiece layered on a table runner and strip of wrapping paper... my favorite trick to bulk up a runner or just add some color and pattern.  And an added bonus, clean up is a breeze! You all might remember the collection of houses I thrifted a few years ago and sprayed them a variety of colors, I just pulled a few of the red ones out to use this time.  I used mercury glass candles h......

OKC DESIGNER SHOWHOUSE TOUR- PART 1

A few weeks ago a friend and I toured a Designer Showhouse that was open here in Oklahoma City.  I took plenty of photos and thought you might like to see the tour as well.  I believe that designers from a variety of local decor stores were responsible for decorating each room, and to my understanding this was a pre-existing home that was used for the Showhouse while on the market.  The design throughout the home varies greatly, some things I really liked and some things I did not.  To each his own, right?  I'll show you at least a look from each room, and highlight some of the things I thought were good ideas and things that inspired me for future projects.   There were so many rooms that I'll share a portion of the house today and will do a second post with the rest of the home at a later time. The covered porch was all decked out, that tassel garland caught our eye and we want to make one of our own! Also, how about that rug...look familiar? ......

THIS HOUSE: OUR HOME FOR 10 YEARS

We can hardly believe it, but this month marks our 10th anniversary of living in this house. My parents have never moved since they married almost 50 years ago, so I always lived in the same house growing up.  After marrying, we moved around a bit, but this is the longest I've ever lived in a house other than my childhood home.  My husband's dad is a pastor, so they moved around throughout his childhood and our current home is the one he's lived in the longest in his life.  So, it's quite a milestone for many reasons! ...

Breakfast Nook Update {Way Back Wednesday}

Since starting this blog seven months ago, I realized there are several things I've mentioned along the way that I need to come back and update you on.  So, I'm starting a little series on Wednesdays where I'll go back and revisit something I neglected or forgot to give you more details on...hence the "Way Back Wednesday" title! The last time I showed you my breakfast nook,  it looked like this and there were still several changes that I was contemplating.  One was to switch my table and chairs around and recover the chair seats.  I had intended to order a black and white graphic fabric, but when I had leftover fabric from my  dining room drapes  I decided to save some pennies and just use what I had.   Second, the loveseat got a new lumbar pillow cover.  The fabric is by P. Kaufmann  and the pattern is "Slick".  I ordered it from  fabric.com , although they appear to not have that color any more. Third......

NEW PAINT PHOTOS AND THREE BIRTHDAY WINNERS!

First of all, thanks for all of your sweet comments on my three years of blogging!  So glad that you are all along for the journey.  Congratulations to the winners of the drawing for the giftcards, Janelle T., Jacqueline, and Tara H.!  Check your inbox ladies, you should have an e-mail from me! Today I wanted to quickly share with you our finished paint job.  Quickly, meaning these photos aren't perfectly set up and styled...I just took some quick snapshots so you could see the difference. Breakfast Nook Before: Breakfast Nook After: We knew this would be a huge project, because with our floor plan, once you start, there's nowhere to stop.  And, we had to do the ceiling too. Dining Room Before:  And After! With all of the color that I use in decorating, it's refreshing to have a calm backdrop on the walls.  I wondered if the light color would feel stark, but it doesn't at all.  In fact, I probably could have ev......
