I've got a curve ball for you today that I haven't shared yet... I sold my hot pink chairs! I know, I know. I loved my hot pink club chairs. You loved my hot pink club chairs. We just decided we wanted a different style of chair. The club chairs were pretty wide and deep and took up a lot of room, and we were interested in some swivel/glider chairs instead. I looked to purchase new, but couldn't find anything I really liked and new furniture is SO expensive. I kept an eye on FB Marketplace and came across these- Aside from the fabric reminding me of the olive green velvet striped couch my family had growing up, they were in great shape and made by CR Laine, a quality brand that was much more high end than the new ones I was looking at in furniture stores! We scooped them up and moved them in just to try out for a few days to make sure we liked them before going to the trouble of recovering them. Then, they sat......

A NEW PAIR OF SOFAS FOR THE LIVING ROOM
I have a quick house update to share with you today that I haven't shared yet- this post draft has been started since March! We have a lot to catch up on... earlier this year we got new sofas in the Living Room! We had been wanting something different that our previous sofa and loveseat for a while. I was surprised when I looked back to see that we had those for over 7 years, it doesn't seem like that long! It was a nice set, the size just wasn't super comfortable for us anymore. So, I spent some time last Fall looking and bringing fabric samples home and ended up buying 2 custom matching sofas from Rowe. We've had a Rowe sofa for over 20 years ( this one ) and it's still going strong, so I focused on what that brand had to offer. They are a solid mid-price range brand that offered the custom options and sizes I was looking for. I decided on their "My Style II" line because it has a few size options and you can choose from several options of frame,......

3 KEY PIECES FOR BUILDING A ROOM DESIGN- BOY'S ROOM REFRESH PART 1
Last Fall my son moved away to college, and while we welcome him home with open arms every chance we get, his room is now unoccupied most of the time. Since we don't have a ton of square footage in our home, we like to try to make the best use of every space. So, we decided that while his room will still be "his" and ready for him any time he's home, we also wanted to tweak it just a bit to make it more useful for the rest of the family too during the majority of the year when he's not here. Enter a happy excuse to refresh his room! I'm so happy to once again partner with At Home Stores to spread the word about their Rug and Furniture Event going on now. While we're not completely starting over in the room, I found 3 key pieces from At Home that really got the design ball rolling for a few updates to make the space function better for our family- a rug, a key piece of furniture, and great lighting. ...

DESIGN TRENDS FOR 2020
I recently came across this article where Better Homes and Gardens lists what they think will be the biggest design trends in 2020. Of the 8 trends that made their list, I already have 6 in my home! I don't think that puts me in the "trend setter" category at all, rather I think all of these "trends" are actually design elements that have stood the test of time and are actually quite classic and timeless. So I'd dare to say they're just coming to the forefront once again but in a new and fresh way. ( *This post contains affiliate links, including Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. Read my full disclosure policy here .) VELVET Velvet furniture is SO classic and although it might seem fussy, it's actually quite durable. Today's velvets especially are made with fabric blends meant to stand up to family life full of snacks, pets, and lounging. I couldn't be happier with the velvet I chose for our s......

A FEW THINGS- LET'S CATCH UP!
Alright friends... I know my posting has been sooooo sporadic, but Summer is over and a "normal" routine is returning, so I'm committing to more regular posting again! The past 4 months have been abnormally busy for us and we were gone a good deal of the Summer. I'm no good at balancing "real life" and the blog when things get really busy. I tried to keep everyone in the loop on what was happening over on Instagram , but I know I'm desperately behind here for those of you who might not follow there. So, I do have lots of things that happened over the Summer that I plan to share with you, but for now I'll just catch you up on big things from the past few weeks, and we'll go from there! First up, I stopped by a local close-out store and stumbled across this awesome cane patterned garden stool. It was a bargain so I couldn't pass it up, and if you can look past the worst-ever color, isn't it cute? I'll use my process for painti......

HOW TO MAKE AN UPHOLSTERED HEADBOARD- DIY TUTORIAL
After having it on my to-do list since my master bedroom makeover over 3 years ago, I've finally written a tutorial for how to make your own upholstered headboard! I'd hoped to share before now, but somehow can't find my images that I took while making my headboard (what's that tell you about my digital photo organization?). So when I made another for my daughter's room , I made sure I did everything necessary to be able to share the process with you! ...

MY FIVE FAVORITE WAYS TO MIX OLD AND NEW
Welcome to My Five Favorites today! Pam from Simple Details , Lisa from Shine Your Light, Kris from Driven by Decor and I are all thrilled to share with you today. I'm so excited about our theme this month because my decorating style and the pieces in my home are all about the mix of old and new furniture and accessories. When used appropriately, I think older pieces have a certain way of bringing personality, interest, and character to a space with a collected feel that truly can't be achieved with all new items. We're happy to have Melanie from My Sweet Savannah as our guest host today. Her home exterior is one of my long time favorites, I mean how good can it get when you have a lake and wooded area adjoining your property? Fantastic! Melanie has a casual, collected style and a definite knack for incorporating old finds into her decor while maintaining a fresh, inviting design. FURNITURE If you've be......

A FEW THINGS...
Hi friends! I feel like since my daughter's room makeover wrapped up I haven't had much on the project front to share with you. But no fear, things are always happening around here. Today I have a few things to share with you in a totally random brain dump... some projects, some family stuff, a sneak peek... I'm catching you up on everything! *This post may contain affiliate links, which means I might make a small commission at no extra cost to you. Read my full disclosure policy here . I always get questions about these black rattan chairs when I post them. I stumbled across them at Ross several years ago, and after a season in the sun they weren't looking too good so I painted them black. I usually touch up the paint once a year in the Spring after a rough year of being in the elements, but it's not a big deal. I think my favorite spray paint holds up to the weather pretty well. ...
