A NEW PAIR OF SOFAS FOR THE LIVING ROOM

I have a quick house update to share with you today that I haven't shared yet- this post draft has been started since March!  We have a lot to catch up on... earlier this year we got new sofas in the Living Room! We had been wanting something different that our previous sofa and loveseat for a while. I was surprised when I looked back to see that we had those for over 7 years, it doesn't seem like that long! It was a nice set, the size just wasn't super comfortable for us anymore.  So, I spent some time last Fall looking and bringing fabric samples home and ended up buying 2 custom matching sofas from Rowe.    We've had a Rowe sofa for over 20 years ( this one ) and it's still going strong, so I focused on what that brand had to offer.  They are a solid mid-price range brand that offered the custom options and sizes I was looking for.  I decided on their "My Style II" line because it has a few size options and you can choose from several options of frame,......

HOW TO RE-COVER AN UPHOLSTERED NON-REMOVABLE CHAIR SEAT || BARSTOOL REUPHOLSTERY TUTORIAL

Recently I squeezed in a makeover of my barstools, a project that I've wanted to do for a long time but just hadn't narrowed down exactly how I wanted them to look.  I would actually love to get new barstools at some point and keep an eye out but haven't come across anything I like better than the ones I have for now.  So, this little makeover gave them a new life! ...

HOW TO MAKE AN UPHOLSTERED HEADBOARD- DIY TUTORIAL

After having it on my to-do list since my master bedroom makeover over 3 years ago, I've finally written a tutorial for how to make your own upholstered headboard!  I'd hoped to share before now, but somehow can't find my images that I took while making my headboard (what's that tell you about my digital photo organization?).  So when I made another for my daughter's room , I made sure I did everything necessary to be able to share the process with you! ...

HOW TO RECOVER AN UPHOLSTERED BENCH OR CHAIR SEAT {BAMBOO BENCH MAKEOVER}

HOW TO RECOVER AN UPHOLSTERED BENCH OR CHAIR SEAT {BAMBOO BENCH MAKEOVER}

I shared this little Craigslist bamboo bench with you last year.  I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it when I purchased it, but I knew I couldn't pass it up! It's shown up in a few pictures here and there, but was hiding a little secret. I really never recovered the seat, I had just wrapped the ugly fabric with a new piece and taped it underneath.  I finally decided where this bench would live, and subsequently what fabric I wanted to use on it.  You saw a little peek in my Spring Home Tour , but again, the fabric was just quickly wrapped around the cushion as a temporary fix. Over the summer I finally had a chance to reupholster the cushion for good.  This is a fairly simple project that anyone could do, and the same steps would apply to re-covering a regular seat cushion (such as side chairs or dining chairs). One final step, adding cording around the edge, really gives a more polished, finished look, but that step is completely optional and......

DIY UPHOLSTERED OTTOMANS {ALMOST NO SEW!}

Well, here we are 9 months after I completed my  Master Bedroom  for the One Room Challenge last Spring, and my DIY upholstered ottomans are one of the projects that I have neglected to share with you.   So, since I'm spending January trying to clean out and organize and not doing many blog-worthy projects, I thought this would be a great time to finally share this tutorial with you. Malachite Fabric I think that this is a project anyone could tackle, it's mainly measuring, ironing, and stapling.  I did a tiny bit of sewing to make the cording around the top edge (which you could do too if you can sew a straight line- here's a great tutorial ), but you could even get around that by purchasing ready made cording if you wish. I came across these stools on Craigslist and although dated, loved the shape and size and they were very sturdy.  I had been thinking about a set-up like this  ( Edie's home is a huge inspiration to me!), and was ......
