UPDATED BLUE AND WHITE CURTAINS AND DRAPERY FABRIC SOURCES

UPDATED BLUE AND WHITE CURTAINS AND DRAPERY FABRIC SOURCES

When I share any photos that show my blue and white curtains, I'm often asked for sources.  I made all of my drapery myself, so I don't have exact sources to share.  I have shared fabric names and similar ready made drapery options in the past, several years ago I wrote a post sharing all of the information.   However, availability has changed since then and I wanted to update that post to be able to share some current sources.  So, here's my updated blue and white curtains source guide!  I'll start by saying that most of the fabric I used seems to have since been discontinued, or difficult to find in a web search.  If you have access to decorator fabric warehouses these exact prints might still be found in those or local shops.  I'll share the fabric info. again so it's accessible if you're searching and I've included some similar fabrics that are available online below.   The fabric I used in the Living Room and Breakfast Nook is a Vern Yip......

HOW TO MAKE A SIMPLE ENVELOPE CLOSURE PILLOW

This post is sponsored by Walmart, affiliate links may be used. Did you know that September is National Sewing Month?  It began in 1982 with a proclamation from President Ronald Reagan in which he declared a month long celebration "In recognition of the importance of home sewing to our Nation."  After learning how to sew in my Jr. High Home Ec. class and continuing to learn further skills from my Mom over the years, sewing is still an often used skill in my life and something about those words just warm my heart!  With multiple local fabric stores closing their doors in my area over the past few years, I'm so glad that Walmart has a Fabric Department where I can pick up all of the sewing basics that I need.  I'll share some of those with you today and thought I'd also share a tutorial for how to make the easiest pillow ever, a simple envelope closure pillow.  Half of the work on this pillow is getting it cut out and some ironing, and then all you need to do is......

A FEW THINGS: PILLOWS, FALL BREAK, FAMILY & PUMPKINS

Occasionally I have a some things to tell you that don't warrant their own blog post, so "A Few Things" is my opportunity to share all of those random bits and pieces with you and catch you up on what's happening around our house. (*This post may contain affiliate links, read my full disclosure policy here .) LET'S TALK PILLOWS! It's no secret that I love experimenting with new colors and pattern combos, and the changing of seasons is the perfect excuse to add in some new pillow covers.  I've been sewing for Fall, and thought you might enjoy this video tutorial that I shared on my Instagram Stories.  Click here and then click on the circle photo below my picture that says "pillow tutorial" underneath to view.  I made them with custom piping and zippers, which just takes a bit of practice and isn't too hard at all. ...

DIY REVERSIBLE TABLE RUNNER TUTORIAL

Since most are neutral colors and or not my style, I have a hard time finding ready-made table runners.  So, I recently used some of my fabric scraps to make my own!  And, I used a different fabric on each side so I can have two totally different looks with only one piece.  Here's my tutorial if you want to try making your own DIY reversible table runner. ...

HAPPENINGS ON THE HOMEFRONT |6|

Hello everyone!  Today I'm catching you up on what's going on around our house... projects in process and little updates in our family life that some of you enjoy reading. After adding it in at Christmas, I've really been loving the hot pink/red combo.  Last year I began adding in a touch of hot pink when I got my new rug in the Entry and now I'm adding in a little bit more in other areas of the house.  On our last trip to Ikea I found these new hot pink pillow covers (love the $4 Gurli covers...available in so many colors!) and bought a few.  I planned to monogram them and when I came across this pagoda frame design I thought it would be perfect.  I used the largest size that my hoop would allow and first thought it might be too small, but it's grown on me and I like the subtle tone on tone detail that the red thread adds. HOW TO MAKE A LINED CURTAIN PANEL- BLACK AND WHITE STRIPED CURTAINS TUTORIAL

Several of you said that you noticed my new black and white striped curtains in my Spring Tour last week even before I mentioned them in the post.  Good eye!  As I mentioned, I still like my old curtains, but after 6 years I was feeling the need for a change.  The process really isn't that difficult, so I thought I'd share my version of how to make a lined curtain panel with you today.  Here's my disclaimer:  I'm not a professional seamstress... this may not be the "correct" way to make a panel, it's not weighted or pleated or perfect, but it's the easiest way I've found and it works for me. ...

DIY UPHOLSTERED OTTOMANS {ALMOST NO SEW!}

Well, here we are 9 months after I completed my  Master Bedroom  for the One Room Challenge last Spring, and my DIY upholstered ottomans are one of the projects that I have neglected to share with you.   So, since I'm spending January trying to clean out and organize and not doing many blog-worthy projects, I thought this would be a great time to finally share this tutorial with you. Malachite Fabric I think that this is a project anyone could tackle, it's mainly measuring, ironing, and stapling.  I did a tiny bit of sewing to make the cording around the top edge (which you could do too if you can sew a straight line- here's a great tutorial ), but you could even get around that by purchasing ready made cording if you wish. I came across these stools on Craigslist and although dated, loved the shape and size and they were very sturdy.  I had been thinking about a set-up like this  ( Edie's home is a huge inspiration to me!), and was ......
