NEW GARAGE DOORS AND A LITTLE MAKEOVER!

NEW GARAGE DOORS AND A LITTLE MAKEOVER!

Our 30+ year old builder grade doors have desperately needed to be replaced for a while, and a few months ago we finally got that taken care of with some new garage doors!   We kept a classic traditional style, not doing anything too fancy and choosing a long recessed panel look.  We will likely paint them in the future when it's time to repaint the trim on the house, but for now the factory white finish is fine. We took the opportunity to do an inexpensive spruce up on that side of the house while we were at it and so I thought I'd share with you.   We replaced the exterior lights flanking the doors as well as the one on the front porch with these .  They have a much cleaner look than what we had there before and we've been really happy with them.   I was on the fence about adding any detail, but the doors were SO big and plain once they were installed that we ordered this set of magnetic "hinge" straps and carriage handles hardware . They add a ......

NEW PINK CHAIRS (AGAIN!)

NEW PINK CHAIRS (AGAIN!)

I've got a curve ball for you today that I haven't shared yet...  I sold my hot pink chairs!   I know, I know.  I loved my hot pink club chairs.  You loved my hot pink club chairs.  We just decided we wanted a different style of chair.  The club chairs were pretty wide and deep and took up a lot of room, and we were interested in some swivel/glider chairs instead.   I looked to purchase new, but couldn't find anything I really liked and new furniture is SO expensive.  I kept an eye on FB Marketplace and came across these- Aside from the fabric reminding me of the olive green velvet striped couch my family had growing up, they were in great shape and made by CR Laine, a quality brand that was much more high end than the new ones I was looking at in furniture stores!  We scooped them up and moved them in just to try out for a few days to make sure we liked them before going to the trouble of recovering them.   Then, they sat......

LOOK FOR LESS DIY GOLD PILLAR CANDLEHOLDERS

Recently I was flipping through a catalog that I got in the mail and spotted  these brass candleholders .  I was immediately drawn to them but had a feeling they would be pricey, and I was right!  The price in the catalog was $249- gulp!  I kept the photo though because I had a feeling I could come up with a similar look.  I found just the right supplies and came up with my own look for less version of those gorgeous gold pillar candleholders, and saved almost $200 by making my own DIY version! Before we go any further, could I ask a huge favor of you?  If you're a fairly regular reader, (or if this is your first time here!) could I ask you to subscribe to receive my posts by e-mail ?  I'm trying to build my subscriber list, it's the only guaranteed way that I have to communicate directly with you (social media is much too fickle!).  I promise I don't send anything extra- I only send an email to your box when I want to let you know there's a new p......

CELEBRATING 15 YEARS IN OUR HOME- BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTOS

A few months ago we passed the 15 year mark of living in our home, hard for us to believe!  I lived in the same house my whole life growing up, but the longest my husband ever lived in a house was around 7 years so this is definitely the longest he's ever lived in any one home.  Today I thought I'd share a big before and after post, with photos from when we moved in (or shortly thereafter) to how each space currently looks.  I wrote a similar post when we had been in our house for 10 years , but of course more things have changed in the past 5 years so I thought an update was in order!  That post had more in-between changes in it as well that I made throughout the years and more description of everything we changed, but for today I'll just include the earliest before photos and the most current afters.   Some of these photos are from the MLS listing with the previous owner's belongings, and some are within a few days after we moved in.  We could not ev......
