Our 30+ year old builder grade doors have desperately needed to be replaced for a while, and a few months ago we finally got that taken care of with some new garage doors! We kept a classic traditional style, not doing anything too fancy and choosing a long recessed panel look. We will likely paint them in the future when it's time to repaint the trim on the house, but for now the factory white finish is fine. We took the opportunity to do an inexpensive spruce up on that side of the house while we were at it and so I thought I'd share with you. We replaced the exterior lights flanking the doors as well as the one on the front porch with these . They have a much cleaner look than what we had there before and we've been really happy with them. I was on the fence about adding any detail, but the doors were SO big and plain once they were installed that we ordered this set of magnetic "hinge" straps and carriage handles hardware . They add a ......

MY PICKS FOR THE BEST OF WALMART DEALS WEEK!
Walmart has had some great deals running this week, and if you know me I love nothing better than sharing a bargain with you! Many of the deals I chose to share are things I have and use, and everything I'm listing here is a significant savings! As I looked through the deals I kept thinking how many would make great Christmas gifts, for me it's never to early to start stashing things away. Also, if your child is heading to college or setting up their first apartment there are some really great finds for that, too. Some deals may not last for long so if something catches your eye, hurry! :) (I about fell over when I saw the price on the set of trees that I recently added to my patio and shared with you, more below!) One other thing to note... right now an annual membership of Walmart Plus is half price- just $49 ! That makes it just over $4 per month and the benefits are crazy- free delivery from the store to your front door on any amount of purchase, gas d......

Happy Independence Day! Last year I didn't decorate one bit for the Fourth, I was 2 weeks past my shoulder surgery and couldn't even think about getting the tub of flags out and decorating! I love decking everything out in red, white, and blue though so this year I enjoyed dressing our home with the stars and stripes again. Hope you enjoy this little patriotic tour today! SOMETHING I THOUGHT I'D NEVER DO... FAUX POTTED TREES ON THE PATIO
I recently did something I thought I would never do. After one too many of the bushes that I use to fill my large pots on my patio died and needed to be replaced once again, I decided to switch to faux potted trees! For at least 5 years, I've kept green tower boxwoods in these large pots across the back of the patio. I liked having something planted in them that would stay green through the winter, and in the summer I added annuals for some color around the rim of the pot. But after having to replace all of them at various times over the years- usually at around $70 a pop, two more were on their last leg early this Spring and I decided I didn't want to waste any more money on that particular plan. There are some really great faux tree options now, and as much as I cringe at the idea of having faux plants outside, I decided to give them a try. I made a one time investment that was about the same cost of the real bushes that I had been buying- and replacing ......

PATIO REFRESH DESIGN BOARD
We always do a Spring Clean of our patio each year where we remove all the furniture, hose down the concrete and the rugs, wipe everything down and touch up paint as needed, etc. We did that earlier this year but I never fully finished "fluffing" like I normally do. Then, we were out of town for a good chunk of the summer so when we returned from our travels the patio was in need of some attention and another cleaning since we hadn't been here to maintain it day by day. I spent a (really hot!) day cleaning everything off again and finishing up some maintenance that I hadn't done earlier in the year, like giving the garden stools a new coat of paint. (I bought random clearance stools years ago and painted them to match using this process . It's a good method especially for pieces that will be indoors but understandably after being out in the elements all the time the paint usually chips off here and there after a year. I sand the chipped spots w......

I hope you have the BEST weekend, it's our last one together as a family for a while as Caleb heads back to college in a few days. With everything he missed out on last Spring having to come home early, we're actually thrilled and excited for him to go! His small college is being very thorough in their planning and taking all possible safety precautions to allow a safe return to campus for students, and we are praying they will all be able to complete the semester on campus. DARLING FRONT DOOR HANGERS
If you're like me, you've had a steady stream of neighbors you never knew you had walk by your house trying to get some fresh air every day. As they walk, they're likely looking at your yard, your home, and your porch (because I'm pretty sure most people are as nosy as I am like that!). Most of us are limited to what we can do in the way of live plants and flowers on our porch while we're being encouraged to stay at home, but even the simplest little touch of a cute door hanger can perk up your front door. So, if your porch needs a little pick me up, here are some darling front door hangers that will ship straight to your house! ...
