LUMPY STORE BOUGHT PILLOW TO NO-SEW ZIPPER CLOSURE PILLOW COVER (AND QUICK POM POM TUTORIAL VIDEO!)

A few weeks ago I came across the cutest red and pink striped pillow for a steal!  Actually, the fabric was cute but the pillow was flat and lumpy.  I picked up two anyway and figured I could zhush them up to make them look better.  They were sewn closed and I knew that they would look 1,000 times better with a down insert and a zipper closure.  So here is how I turned that cheap lumpy store bought pillow into a chic pillow cover with a zipper closure, and I did it without sewing a stitch! ...

SHOP MY HOME: DIMPLES AND TANGLES PILLOW SOURCE GUIDE

I've had this post on my to-do list for a long time and am so excited to finally be sharing this pillow source guide with you today!  I'm asked often where to find pillows that I use in my home, I thought it would be helpful to round them all up into one post so that there will be a one-stop-shop place to point towards when the question arises.  You might know that I make the majority of my pillows, but I've worked to do the best I can at finding the same pillow (or as similar as possible if no longer available) pre-made for you if you prefer not to sew your own.  ...

HOW TO MAKE A SIMPLE ENVELOPE CLOSURE PILLOW

This post is sponsored by Walmart, affiliate links may be used. Did you know that September is National Sewing Month?  It began in 1982 with a proclamation from President Ronald Reagan in which he declared a month long celebration "In recognition of the importance of home sewing to our Nation."  After learning how to sew in my Jr. High Home Ec. class and continuing to learn further skills from my Mom over the years, sewing is still an often used skill in my life and something about those words just warm my heart!  With multiple local fabric stores closing their doors in my area over the past few years, I'm so glad that Walmart has a Fabric Department where I can pick up all of the sewing basics that I need.  I'll share some of those with you today and thought I'd also share a tutorial for how to make the easiest pillow ever, a simple envelope closure pillow.  Half of the work on this pillow is getting it cut out and some ironing, and then all you need to do is......

DIY POM POM PILLOW

Although I haven't started decorating for Christmas yet, I've been mulling over plans in my head. I know what my general look will be and have been thinking about which pillows I want to use for the season. I want to mix my Togo spot pillows back in, but they've seemed a little plain to me since I made them last summer. With Christmas being the time for all of the extra little details, I thought I'd add some pom poms to my pillows. Last year I made a few pom pom projects and they are such a quick and easy way to add a little bit of fun to a room! ...

SUMMER MINI HOUSE TOUR

SUMMER MINI HOUSE TOUR

I've recently mentioned that I'd be posting a summer house tour soon, and I'm afraid I over-shot that a bit. Consider this more of a "here's a few summer decorations I put out" post.  :)  Since summer is well on it's way, I focused on the living room and entry and called it a day. For the entry, I left the giant clam shell but removed the orchid arrangement and added a live fern. When I realized the pot was visible, I scrounged around for something to cover it, and my disco ball ornaments did the trick.  Disco balls truly are for every season!  (See mine used in  Fall here ,  Christmas here , and my  big mama ball here !) I'm certain that this is my favorite summer vignette ever...natural, simple, shiny, and green. Moving on to the new sofa table, a few weeks ago I showed you 3 ways that I styled it , but here's where the accessories have landed for summer. This little crab door knocker is my favorite summer accessory.  H......

NELL HILL'S IN KANSAS CITY - HOME DECOR PARADISE!

We visited Kansas City for a few days over our Spring Break last month.  I've been once before and was excited to get back to visit this fun town!  I had one stop that I knew I must make no matter what... Nell Hill's.  So, I dropped everyone else in the family off at the World War I Museum (which they said was fantastic!) and headed off for a few hours of uninterrupted shopping time.  Want to take a little tour with me? My first visit to Nell Hill's was 5 years ago so I knew what wonderful eye candy was in store, and I think it was even better this time!  Since I'm hoping to start my bedroom makeover soon, I couldn't get enough of all of the beautiful beds they had made up.  Although the photo is not the best, this one was my favorite.  I've loved the Xu Garden lattice fabric for a long time, and here it is in shams and a duvet cover!  Don't be surprised if the fabric shows up somewhere in my bedroom. #hinthint The colors and fabric com......
