2026 FOURTH OF JULY FRONT PORCH

Happy Fourth of July Week! I've been working (sweating) away outside and am so excited to share my Fourth of July front porch with you today. She's a cutie!

After Christmas, I think the Fourth is my favorite holiday to decorate for.  These guys have my favorite look ever this year to celebrate America's 250th- patriotic sunglasses, bows, a flag, and a "liberty bell" (repurposed from Christmas!) tied on!

I zhushed up my plain faux boxwood wreath by grabbing a striped table runner that I had on hand and tying it on like a wreath sash.

I accented the wreath with a couple of the patriotic pennant flags that I made a few years ago.  The gold stars are small plastic tree toppers out of my Christmas stash- I added a drop of hot glue on the base to secure them down between the leaves. I love how many things can do double duty for Christmas and the Fourth!  Lastly, I had some packs of foam stars and fireworks from Hobby Lobby.  I added a skewer to each piece and popped them into the base of the wreath- quick and easy!

But the cherry on top is definitely the bow! I enjoyed the pink one I had up for Christmas & Valentine's Day so much I thought I'd probably do one for the Fourth, too. I came across a set of Walmart clearance curtain panels that I had stashed away and forgotten about, and knew the fabric would be perfect for summer!

For the most part, I followed the tutorial I shared with you a while back to make the bow, but totally made this with wire, duct tape, a few zip ties, and fabric! I made it a bit smaller since I wanted to hang it over the door this time instead of out on the front of the porch.   The bow is in 3 pieces, I've found it easier to hang, manipulate, and store if I keep them separate rather than assembling all together and then trying to hang in one piece. The curtain panels were 84", so I used one of them to make the loop part of the bow and the other for the two tails. I hung the loop section by securing two command hooks along the top of the window frame, then added two binder clips to the top edge of the bow and attached those to the command hook.

Then, I just positioned the cut end of the tail (zip tied to bunch it together) up inside the center of the loop and used a small nail to secure the tail to the doorframe. (I actually put the nail into the same hole that I use for cup hooks at Christmas for garland.)  It's so lightweight it only took one to hold each tail in place.  I'm very pleased with how it turned out!

I've been needing a blue-ish color rug for the porch and loved this spotted one when I found it.  It's just a little wider than the gingham ones I normally rotate between and nice for layering a smaller fun rug on top. I thought these cherries were fun and the mix was patriotic but can take me through the rest of the summer, too.

Here's our whole front exterior, I enjoyed hanging a few more bunting flags this year! I normally just hang one on the porch and the two on the window boxes, but with the bow on the porch this year it allowed me to change things up a little. I think next year I need another one or two along the big brick wall 😉 (but hopefully my hydrangeas that I planted this year will be getting bigger along that wall too!).

To hang all of the bunting, I used a variety of command hooks, white or black zip ties, or cup hooks depending on the surface where I was attaching it.

I wanted to hang a bunting on this section but struggled with how to do it since there isn't a flat horizontal section to hang it from like the other spots.  I asked my friends on Instagram if I should hang it straight across the top of the window or follow the curve of the arch, and the second option was the majority answer. I didn't really love any of the options I was considering but this is what I ended up doing and I think it turned out fine.  I used command hooks in this spot, but it repeatedly blew off so I ended up adding some zip ties to secure the grommets to the command hook.  Problem solved! I used cup hooks anywhere I could on the wood trim, and they haven't blown off at all.

These little window box vignettes are my favorite! I'm bummed though because NONE of my geraniums in pots or here are blooming at the moment. They were packed with blooms a week or two ago! I'm sure they'll be back soon, but I sure wish there were some colorful blooms in the photos too!

This is our little side porch by the garage.  Kept it simple but love having some decorations around there too.

But look at this cute doormat I found a few days ago!

My little neighbor friend ran over so I could take her photo under the bow last night, love that so much!  And she made sure to adjust the glasses and talk about the lions, too.  😊

At dusk I have the string lights on, love the glow it adds!  Thanks for visiting today, tomorrow I'll share the back yard and patio all dressed for the Fourth!

  2. I bought the two outdoor wicker planters from Walmart from the last Favorite Five. They are so cute filled with flowers on the front stoop of my 1925 brick bungalow.
