2022 CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR | LIVING ROOM

Well, Merry Christmas everyone!  We're close enough that I might as well go ahead and wish you the Merriest Christmas.  I know my family is pretty much in holiday mode already, how about yours?  And, I think I'm officially the worst blogger for your Christmas decorating inspiration since this is the latest Christmas Tour ever- ha!  I was honestly still decorating the tree and putting finishing touches here and there around the Living Room yesterday morning.  So, I hope you relax, take your time, and soak up my last Christmas tour of the year, and pin away so you'll have plenty of ideas ready for next year!

This year I wanted my Christmas decorations to have a classic, vintage, homey feel.  I moved away from the super bold colors that I've used the past few years... that's not to say there's not still plenty of color, I just used some softer colors in my palette this year even though I still incorporated bright red and my classic greens.

I've mentioned them in previous tours of other rooms this season, but I used a bunch of satin table runners for bows in this room too!  I've had some of these 3D stars for several years originally from Target and Ikea.  This year I picked up some new ones from Ikea to add in as well.

White Star  ||  Similar Gold 28" star  ||  Pagoda Style Mirror  ||  Pink and Red Trees- Hobby Lobby  ||  Similar Topiaries  ||   Red Satin Table Runners  ||  Pink Satin Table Runners (listed as "Rose Gold")  ||  LED Taper Candles  ||  Large and Small Paper Houses, Deer, Green Pedestals- Target, sold out 😞  ||  Anything else too old to be linked 😊

I found the blue A-frame ski hut at a cute new little store in our favorite vacation spot when we were there a few months ago, love the little skiers with it. I used a pipe cleaner to attach a few ornaments together, then wired them in clusters to the garland.

I bought the choir boy candleholders years ago at a church rummage sale.  A friend at church has seen me post them over the years and had 3 more that she made years ago but no longer wanted, so she gave them to me!  She had originally painted them different colors but didn't mind me repainting them.  Love my little choir so much!  Also, loving my LED taper candles here... there's no way I would risk using real candles here!  They are also super easy to use, they turn on in a flash with the click of a remote.

For the past few years I've had the tree centered in the middle window, but wanted to move it closer to the corner this year.  That left the windows feeling a little bare, and inspiration struck to continue the stars across the curtain rod as well as on the mantel and tree (if you saw my Breakfast Nook Tour last week you saw them continued in there as well). Guess how I hung them?  If you guessed more satin table runners ding ding ding... you're the winner!

Here's a closer look at this year's tree!  I used the big stars on a smaller tree in my bedroom last year and loved them so much I knew I wanted to do that again but in this room this year.  I wired them on to a branch so they would stay put.

Also, more bows on the tree.  I did a pink/red combo at the top and then 3 red and 3 pink scattered around the rest of the tree. I used a mix of different size red, green, light blue, light pink, gold, and silver balls as a base, then added on our family ornaments, some vintage ones, and favorites that I've collected over the years.

I saw a pair of these swan sleighs on the Facebook page of a thrift store that I keep an eye on in the town my son goes to college in.  I pore over the photos they post and then send him to check on anything interesting I see- ha!  He's always a willing sport and loves to poke around and see what they have he might be interested in too.  I had planned to use them on my Dining Room table but changed my mind, so I filled this one with a few ornaments and it found a home on this side table.  The vintage style tree toppers were from Hobby Lobby several years ago, wish they would have them again!

A giant bowl full of my vintage thrifted ornaments is always a must on the coffee table at Christmas for me.

I found this really cool large bowl shaped planter a few weeks ago at Tuesday Morning and plopped 3 poinsettias right in their plastic pots inside it for the easiest arrangement ever.  I also received these cute vintage kissing angels from the same friend who made the choir boys.  She had painted them these same colors but they needed new paint so I freshened those up too.  They are the sweetest things!

As usual, I lined up a variety of apothecary jars on the bamboo console table.  They are filled with more vintage ornaments, ribbon candy, gum drops, green dominoes, and vintage wooden circus ornaments.  The vintage style deer are from Hobby Lobby with this green velvet ribbon tied around their necks.

I pulled out some of my older and vintage frames for this little corner of the living room.  I did something similar with the chalkboard frames several Christmases ago but wanted to bring them back!

We all know the saying "everything old is new again..."  that's one of the elves that my Mom used to put out every year at Christmas (before "Elf on the Shelf" was a thing) when I was a little girl, so it's at least over 40 years old, maybe 50+.  That definitely qualifies for "vintage!"

It's layered behind the lamps, but I've hung this elf picture that my daughter made in Elementary School over this dresser one way or another for the past few years.  This year I wrapped the backer board of the frame in wrapping paper, then used two tiny drop of hot glue to secure the elf frame to the backing.  This is my favorite little vignette of the year!

You might remember me sharing recently that I got a new rug for this space.  It's been an adjustment from the hot pink one but I'm liking it!  I think I mentioned in a previous post but I did end up switching out the 9x12 that I originally got for the 10x13 instead.  It was less than a $20 difference at the time and this one gives us a little extra size in the space.

Alright friends, that's a wrap for this year's Christmas tours!  Just think of me in the days after Christmas when you are boxing your decorations up and know that I'll be enjoying mine well into January since I just got it all finished mere days before Christmas! 😂
