FALL TOUR 2022- PROCRASTINATOR'S EDITION

I'm well aware that it's likely many bloggers you follow are sharing Christmas content, but I'm just now getting around to sharing somewhat of a Fall Tour with you!  My porch hasn't even had one pumpkin on it until yesterday... time just totally got away from me and by the time I went out last week to get a few real pumpkins there wasn't one to be found!  So, here's a look at a procrastinator's snapshots of Fall around the house this year.

Maybe waiting this late was to my advantage- rather than the money I usually spend on real pumpkins I hit Hobby Lobby's 75% off sale that's already going on Fall items and picked up some heavier pumpkins that won't blow away off of the porch, now I'll have these to reuse next year!  With some lanterns, candles, the pumpkins, and switch to black gingham ribbon on the lions instead of pink I called it good.

And yes, I plopped them right on the porch as is, bright orange and all.  Maybe I'll paint them next year but for now I added a few bows and that's it.  I didn't even think until afterwards that maybe they look a little too Halloween-ish (which was last week) but oh well!  I've got 2 weeks until Thanksgiving and then Christmas will take over.

My ferns are still going strong so I just tucked in some jumbo pine cones.  (I always grab a bag or two of these at Christmas from Hobby Lobby, or you can order them online from places like Etsy.)

I added a bow to a velvet pumpkin wreath that I picked up at TJ Maxx probably 2 months ago and yep... just hung it up yesterday too.  (See my Bow Tutorial here)

Since I was so late to the game, I kept things inside pretty simple too.  Except for these velvet pumpkins I got a few months ago, I didn't get out all of my bold, bright pumpkins this year. I just kept with more traditional hints of Fall.

I did decorate the Entry a while back, but pretty fresh zinnias from back then died... so yesterday as I was working on the porch and fluffing a few other spaces I changed it up a bit from what I started with.

You'll see a few small changes around the Living Room too in the following photos as I changed out cut flowers that needed to be replaced, but it's generally a pretty simple, natural, light touch of Fall.  Quite different from this mantel from a few years ago!

I love this pheasant pelt that a neighbor gave to me years ago, the colors are so beautiful close up.  I think that one little addition to my bamboo console table adds the perfect nod to Fall.

In the Dining Room I used the pampas grass again on the table, can't get enough of the drama it brings!

I could never use real candles in the center with the pampas grass (if I don't want my house to burn down!) but I used these LED taper candles instead and love them so much!

I'm really impressed with them- they have a remote, can burn steady or flicker, have adjustable brightness, and have a variety of timer settings.  I'm excited to have these to use as an option on the mantel at Christmas as well, it's usually so full of greenery and decorations that I'm always afraid to use real candles there too.

  2. Thank you for this post! Your Fall decorations are beautiful! I’m one of the (few) people who do not put up Christmas decor until after Thanksgiving, so I can give Thanksgiving the proper recognition it deserves!

  3. Love this post, and your home! Thank you for sharing. I don’t celebrate Christmas so a fall tour was really nice to see. I pinned quite a few of your images.

  4. Everything looks beautiful, as usual! As an aside, I hate to dust…more than I can say! I see all the beauty here and think of you dusting! 😂 I’m not ready to decorate for Christmas yet. My daughter has a tree in every room and it’s all gorgeous! I may just go over there occasionally and enjoy!

    1. That sounds like a plan! (And I'm a terrible duster... I prefer decorating to cleaning, ha ha!)

  5. Oh, thanks so much for your fall, non Halloween, really, way too early for Xmas post. I celebrate fall, and the winter equinox, so lovely, but have just found Xmas every where- online, local stores, Walmar, etc just starting in force by mid September. So I just don't shop in those places anymore.

    1. It's such a conundrum... retailers, bloggers, and influencers all have to work so early in order to prepare content so that our readers can glean some ideas for their own decor before they're actually ready to decorate. But, that means it's in everyone's faces very early! So many things are already marked down and clearing out quickly too, I'm afraid by the time I actually start decorating after Thanksgiving and figure out what I need here and there it will all be gone!
