GLIMPSES OF FALL AROUND THE HOUSE

My theme (if you could even call it that) this year was simple and natural.  Ya'll, I'm not kidding, this is the least amount of effort I've ever put in for fall decorating.  The number of my autumn decorations used to rival Christmas for me, but this year I just didn't have it in me.  As I thought about what I normally do, it was just A LOT.  Cluttered.  Too much for this year.  So, I focused on the mantel and sprinkled a few reminders of the season around the rest of the house.

I left my entry table almost as-is, but I kept it simple by switching out the summery flowers for sticks and feathers and added an oversized acorn.

Have you broken out the best ever Autumn snack yet?  I confess, a few of those pumpkins disappeared as soon as the photograph was finished.

Quail knick-knacks have become one of my favorite things to pick up.  Quails are special to my family-many of you know why.  This little guy was a lonely pepper shaker-the salt was no where to be found-that I bought at a church rummage sale.

The cloches on the sofa table are filled with a swallow's nest, a bird ornament, and some faux oversized acorns.

Doesn't everyone need a bedazzled google-eyed turkey in a birdcage?

We don't have any leaves that have turned yet, so I'm making good use of the purple heart that has grown like crazy in my flower beds.  A sweet friend made that adorable little candy jar for me from a canister, wooden candle holders and a finial.

Don't let this cute face fool you.  This is a serious bird loving cat.  I've come home many a time to find these feathers (and my daughter's feather hair bows) attacked and strewn all about.  I'm quite certain that if given the opportunity to be outside this one would reward us with many birdie trophies.

See?  I told you.  Simple and low key, but cozy with just enough of a nod to the changing seasons to feel festive.

  7. So, so pretty! I'm not feeling the "clutter" thing either. In fact, I have done very little decorating and will now go straight to Halloween. I think all of your decor is so very tasteful! Love the feathers ~ :)
