Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and while I don't do full blown decorations for the holiday I like to focus on decorating just one or two spots around the house. Last weekend I finished putting together my Valentine's Day porch and mantel decorations. Some things are similar to what I did last year but I switched around and added in some new pieces too. ...

Well I've been so excited about this day for months... I'm thrilled to share not one but TWO Christmas tree reveals with you today! This year I've partnered with At Home Stores to decorate two different trees in our home, just in time to give you plenty of inspiration as you prepare to deck your halls! And yes, it may seem a bit early, but let me tell you... I just walked the Christmas aisles a few days ago and all of the best stuff is going fast! (Early Black Friday Decor-Buster deals are already going on!) I'm also so happy to be joining in the My Home Style Blog Hop: Christmas Tree Edition hosted by Stephanie at Casa Watkins Living this week. There are over 30 trees in the line-up this week, be sure to check them all out for loads more ideas and inspiration, today's tours are linked at the end of this post. We'll begin with the tree in our Living Room. I'm calling this super colorful beauty our "Oh What Fun" tree, see if you can sp......

VALENTINE'S DAY DECORATIONS AROUND THE HOUSE
I don't go overboard but usually try to do a little something to decorate for Valentine's Day, mainly focusing on the mantel, front porch, and maybe the Entry. This year I had fun changing things up a bit because many of my Valentine's Day decorations are the same as some of my Christmas decorations, just re-purposed for the different holiday. So, it was a challenge to see what I could keep out after Christmas and keep using. Since I love red and pink so much for Christmas, it wasn't too difficult! ...

BRASS PENDANT LIGHTS IN THE KITCHEN
Today I have a kitchen update to share with you. I'm almost embarrassed to write this post... if you've been around a while you'll know that this is the fourth time I've changed out the pendant lights over the kitchen island since we moved some of the can lights and installed the original set five years ago. I'm sure I've said it before, but I'm not a pro decorator. I try things around my home all the time and if they don't end up working out, I learn a lesson from it and move on and try something different. This is definitely a case of if at first you don't succeed, try, try again! ( *some affiliate links used in this post) Here's a little lighting recap if you don't remember. I started out with thrifted lantern fixtures , replaced those down the road with these lotus fixtures (which I LOVED but ultimately decided they were too small for the space), then repainted the lanterns (I experimented with red) and put them back up...t......

WALL TO WALL FALL STYLE
Although I typically don't decorate for Fall until later in the month, I've been thinking about what kind of decorations that I wanted to do this year. Last year I made a drastic shift from traditional Fall colors to using a mainly orange and pink combo , and I decided to continue that untraditional color palette again this year. I'm excited to be a part of At Home Stores ' "Wall to Wall Fall" campaign and show you some of the fun Fall accessories I found there this year. After an hour or two of roaming the store and aisles and aisles of Fall decor (you can't make a quick trip to At Home, it's huge and there's SO many good things to see!), I had a cart full of versatile seasonal pieces to freshen up my Fall style. They challenged me to use what I chose in a variety of different rooms, so here's a look at what I came up with! My "anchor" piece that I started with was this wheat wreath . I knew I could use it lots of different ......

FIVE FRIDAY FAVORITES
Happy Friday everyone! So excited to share my Five Friday Favorites with you today, it's a good one! These floral pillows were sent to me by mistake when I ordered a different pattern, but I loved the colors so much I kept them! They are a designer inspired design, but the fabric is a sturdy synthetic and suitable for indoor or outdoor. The sister pattern that I bought has been on my patio for well over a year in full sun at times every day and hasn't faded one bit. Always use inserts 2” larger than your pillow cover for a full, plump pillow! I like these down inserts , or try these if down allergies are a concern. Navy Floral Pillow Covers || Similar Blue and White Dot Euro Pillow Covers || Similar Blue Chambray Pillow || Similar Pink and Orange Pillow || White Feather Juju Hat I'm seeing so much green and blue and bright colors in fashion this year and I'm here for it! Emily picked out th......

IT'S A COLORFUL LIFE- SPRING HOME TOUR 2020: PART 2
Welcome back for part 2 of my Spring Home Tour! Last week I shared my Living Room and Porch with you and was so pleased that many of you replied that it was a little bright spot in your day. We've been getting some glorious Spring teaser weather days, but this is another chilly, gloomy, rainy week so I'm happy that things are cheery on the inside of our home at least! Today let's start with the Entry. It's a small little space that is open to the Dining Room and the rest of our main living area, and honestly not much has changed here in years! Sometimes I swap out the rug and lamps and the styling on the dresser changes, but the dresser and mirror- both second hand and painted for a makeover- have stayed put for a long time. ...

TAKEAWAYS FROM A BEAUTIFUL HOUSE TOUR (THAT I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT)
Even in this digitial age where a good deal of my time is spent online looking at pretty images, I still enjoy flipping through the glossy pages of a beautiful magazine. I have a few subscriptions that I still take, but for whatever reason many times I don't get around to looking at an issue for several months after it's arrived in my mailbox. That was the case with this issue of House Beautiful from May of last year, which I didn't get around to fully flipping through until probably November. I thought it was an exceptionally good issue, but one home tour sucked me right in. I pick up my copy every time it catches my eye and just study the pages from this perfectly collected, styled, colorful, grown up yet kid friendly home. Today, in my amateur decorator opinion, I thought I'd share some of the things I love about Krista Ewart's home. Living Room Takeaways: One thought to start with, I love the furniture arrangement in this room! My......

NEW GARAGE DOORS AND A LITTLE MAKEOVER!
Our 30+ year old builder grade doors have desperately needed to be replaced for a while, and a few months ago we finally got that taken care of with some new garage doors! We kept a classic traditional style, not doing anything too fancy and choosing a long recessed panel look. We will likely paint them in the future when it's time to repaint the trim on the house, but for now the factory white finish is fine. We took the opportunity to do an inexpensive spruce up on that side of the house while we were at it and so I thought I'd share with you. We replaced the exterior lights flanking the doors as well as the one on the front porch with these . They have a much cleaner look than what we had there before and we've been really happy with them. I was on the fence about adding any detail, but the doors were SO big and plain once they were installed that we ordered this set of magnetic "hinge" straps and carriage handles hardware . They add a ......

3 EASY CHRISTMAS CRAFTS
This weekend I was privileged to speak at a Holiday event for the ladies at Covenant Community Church, where I shared some Christmas decorating ideas with them. I can sit behind a computer screen and talk all day long, but I'm a rookie at speaking to large groups! The ladies were so gracious and hospitable, and it was a lovely evening. Hi Ladies! :) I loaded up the truck and displayed several Christmas decorations that were inexpensive and simple to make or pull together. Over the coming days I'll share several of those ideas with you here, and most of them will work their way into my Christmas decor. I wish I would have taken a photo of my set-up, but all I have is this pic my husband snapped with his phone while we were setting up. Now, I'm not rushing past Thanksgiving, but I wanted to go ahead and share these ideas with you so you would have time to make them over the next week or two if you would like to. I never decorate before Tha......
