FIVE FRIDAY FAVORITES

Friday rolled around quickly this week!  We are headed out this afternoon to celebrate "America's Greatest Homecoming" with my daughter at OSU.  We have heard about the incredible displays for years but last year was our first time to see them in person, truly amazing!  I'll share some on Instagram later if you follow along there. Here are my five Friday favorites for this week.  Yes, you see a bit of Christmas there... don't be mad! 🎄 Last weekend was Homecoming at our University where my son now attends.  We had several days of activities, wrapping up with a football game where our Homecoming "Harvest Court" nominees were recognized at half time.  The student body nominates Seniors in 3 categories- Most Servant-Like Male and Female, Best All-Around Male and Female, and Harvest King and Queen.  Our sweet boy was nominated for most Servant-Like Male, and he won!!  We had such a good evening the night before spending time with all of the nominees on th...

HOW TO MAKE A LIGHTED MARQUEE LETTER PHOTO BOOTH SIGN

Last month I shared the exciting news of our son's engagement , and today I wanted to follow up with a tutorial for how I made the lighted marquee sign that hung in our outdoor photo booth spot at the party. I possibly could have purchased something that would have required much less effort than I spent making this sign, but I had something specific in mind and knew the style and size I was looking for wasn't readily available and/or in the price range I wanted.   To get started, I used a 32x40" foam board, 16" C and K cardboard 3D letters, and an 8" H cardboard letter all from Hobby Lobby.  I also ordered this set of battery operated lights because I knew this would be out in the yard and I didn't want to deal with having to plug in a regular set of lights (which would have also been heavier, these were super light weight).   There are 2 strings of lights in that set and I used them both.  I also used a good x acto/utility knife , low temp glue gun , duct ...

EMILY'S COLLEGE APARTMENT TOUR- {GIRL'S COLLEGE DORM OR APARTMENT DECORATING IDEAS}

My daughter moved off campus this year and is living in an apartment with a few other girls. (See her dorm room last year here if you missed it.)  In August I shared a few spaces with you but wanted to share a full tour including their living room which I haven't posted at all yet.  So let's begin the tour there!  The star of the show in this room is definitely the cute botanical wall art.  I still had lots of pages left in the book I used for my kitchen botanical gallery wall , so I cut a few more out.  ( My exact book fluctuates terribly in price, but you could use any botanical book or even search to print free pictures online to achieve a similar look.) I picked up the gingham canvases on major clearance from the Summer collection at Hobby Lobby.  They were only a few dollars each and I thought a grouping of them with art mounted on top would be cute and cost effective for the girls' apartment.  ( This old project that I did years ago gave me the idea to stack anot...
