RED, WHITE, AND BLUE FESTIVE FOURTH OF JULY TABLESCAPE

The Fourth of July is a favorite holiday for my family, probably falling right after Christmas and Thanksgiving for us.  We sit in the same spot in front of the Fire Station for our hometown parade every year, then caravan over to my parents' house nearby for lunch and games for the rest of the day.  It's the perfect opportunity to celebrate our freedoms and we enjoy being together and making it festive!  I put together a red, white, and blue tablescape a few days ago to share with you as you gather ideas for your own festivities for the Fourth coming up this week as well. ...

THE FOURTH OF JULY- DECOR, RECIPES, AND FASHION INSPIRATION FOR A FESTIVE HOLIDAY

Happy Monday Everyone!  Well that weekend went by in a blur, but we were prepping and packing for vacation so the time flew by extra quickly.  After getting up super early we rode most of the day yesterday and arrived in New Orleans last night.  It's been 6 years since we've been here so we'll spend a full day enjoying the sights (& food!) before heading on to Florida tomorrow for some R&R at the beach.  It's hard to believe that the Fourth of July will be right around the corner by the time we get home, so I thought I'd better get my brain in gear to be ready for the holiday. A few decorations from years past... ...

I bought this black t-shirt maxi dress late last year and it's been such a great buy!  Through the winter I paired it with a long cardigan, scarf, and booties to wear to church.  This summer it's been so comfortable and easy to throw on.  With a few accessories and cute sandals it's a totally polished look, and dare I say more comfy than shorts and a t-shirt! It's a medium weight t-shirt fabric and I LOVE that there are short sleeves (most maxis are sleeveless) and POCKETS!  I ordered my normal size medium and it fits well.  I'm about 5'7" and it just skims the top of my feet, the side seams drape down just a bit and touch the floor when I'm wearing flats.   I wrote a post a while back with some tips about ordering from this site , I've always been 100% happy with them! PRAYING THROUGH YOUR HOME- HOME TOUR WITH SCRIPTURE AND PRAYER PROMPTS

In late Spring I attended our state-wide Women's Retreat.  The theme for the event was "Home," and with stellar speakers Kay Arthur , Katherine Wolf , and Ruth Chou Simons , it was a refreshing, challenging, and inspirational weekend.  Alongside the general sessions there were other activities going on for ladies to take part in.  One of those was a "Prayer Experience" where they were encouraged to pray through their home.  I had a teeny tiny role of helping with it and wanted to share that with you today. ...

2018 SUMMER HOME TOUR PART 2- PATIO REFRESH

I'm continuing my Summer Home Tour today with a look at our patio.  We completely overhauled this space 3 years ago (see original reveal with all related posts listed here ) and have loved having this additional outdoor living space.  You'll find us here often throughout most of the year except in the most extreme weather.  We recently made a few changes so I wanted to share those with you today. ...

2018 SUMMER HOME TOUR- PART 1

Hello everyone, and welcome to my Summer Home Tour!  I'm so excited to virtually show you around today.  I'd like to begin though with a big thank you to Marty from A Stroll Thru Life  for putting this tour together, she always organizes the best seasonal tours! If you've arrive here because Carmel from Our Fifth House  sent you, I couldn't be happier that you're here.  I'm a long time fan of Carmel's work and design, even way back when she was sharing her actual fifth house, not her sixth that she's in now.  She has made such lovely improvements and put her unique style on her already dreamy Charleston home, and I'm looking forward to seeing her tour today as well. But for now, relax and take a look around.  We've lived in this home in Oklahoma for 11 years now, and have enjoyed making it our own through the years (see lots of  before and after photos here ).  ...

A FEW THINGS...

Hi friends!  I feel like since my daughter's room makeover wrapped up I haven't had much on the project front to share with you.  But no fear, things are always happening around here.  Today I have a few things to share with you in a totally random brain dump... some projects, some family stuff, a sneak peek... I'm catching you up on everything! *This post may contain affiliate links, which means I might make a small commission at no extra cost to you.  Read my  full disclosure policy here . I always get questions about these black rattan chairs when I post them.  I stumbled across them at Ross several years ago, and after a season in the sun they weren't looking too good so I painted them black.  I usually touch up the paint once a year in the Spring after a rough year of being in the elements, but it's not a big deal.  I think my favorite spray paint holds up to the weather pretty well. ...
