TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK...

It hardly seems possible to me, but the fifth anniversary of Dimples and Tangles is rapidly approaching!  As that date draws near, and considering things I continue to learn about blogging, I'm planning some changes around here.  Actually, certain changes (platform, design, even name possibly!) have been churning in my mind for several years, I've just never pulled the trigger on anything major.  However, I figured before I proceed, I'd better take your suggestions into consideration!

I started this blog with the purpose of encouraging others to embrace their creativity while trying new things, and sharing ideas from my home to spark new inspiration for your own decor.  Also, I always have the idea in the back of my mind that I'm sharing things that I wish my 20 year old self would have known how to do way back then...

As time has passed, I've added in more of my interests beyond decorating, such as travel and a little bit of cooking and fashion here and there.  This "hobby" has even turned into somewhat of a business for me, which is exciting for this stay-at-home Mom as we get closer and closer to having college tuition to pay for!

I want this to be a page that you look forward to visiting with each new post.  So, I want to know... what do you enjoy seeing here?  What could you do without?  What would you like to see more of?  Is there something about that blog that absolutely drives you nuts?  What would you miss if I never posted about it again?  What do you wish I would never post about again?  ;)  What would make this a better place to visit?

So go ahead, lay it on me.  I can handle it (I think!).  No issue is too big or small to mention.  I recently had a reader request making my recipes easier to print out.  Yes, I can and will do that!  Feel free to even log in as "anonymous" in the comment section if you'd like, email me at dimplesandtangles{at}att.net,  or message me on my Facebook page or Instagram if you have trouble commenting here (and I'd like to know if you have trouble commenting, too!).  And, I realize that if 20 different people leave their thoughts, I'll likely get 20 different opinions, but I'm interested to see if there are any common threads in your responses.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment, I truly appreciate it and it will be so helpful to me!  I will give consideration to each and every one, but please realize that some of your suggestions might be doable, and some may not be.  I'm anxious to hear your thoughts!

    1. Kellyann, Thank you so much! Glad to know I have the "OK" to include a little more fashion. I'm definitely not a fashion blogger or model, ;) but it will be fun to share cute things that I come across. I'll have a fashion post coming up tomorrow! And, glad you enjoy the recipes!

  3. The things that I love about your blog is that you post regularly and that the content is diy centered as opposed to being "retail-centric." I get very tired of seeing what every blogger wants to buy from the big sales. Do people really read blogs to see what other people want to buy from Nordstrom? Your style is unique and yet the basic techniques are transferable to many projects. Please don't change your basic content. You are unique and do a great job!

    1. I second the above comment. I like your unique content, and especially your photos and colours. While I am not as brave with colour as you are, your blog has given me ideas and inspiration. I wouldn't recommend changing much! Also, I prefer blogs with clean and uncluttered formats and displays - easier to read and scroll through. You have largely incorporated that.

    2. Exactly!! I'm so tired of every blogger out there jumping on the Nordstrom (sale or no sale) bandwagon. It's tired and old. And enough with the affiliate links in those posts. It's too much!

    3. In agreement with the above comments 100%! I love that you actually DIY and share your techniques. Your style is unique and wonderful, I look forward to your posts and feel like I'm having coffee with a very talented old friend. Please don't change the basic content!

    5. I completely agree with the above replies. While your decor is bolder and "more" than what I have in my home, I love seeing your gorgeous color combinations. I also enjoy your party ideas (love that you entertain so much), your go-to recipes, and occasional style posts. I love what you do!

    6. Diane and friends, Wow! Thanks for that great feedback. I understand what you're saying and will use "sale" posts sparingly if at all. I try to keep products that I mentioned centered on things I own and use, or things that are similar to my own as a source for others who might be looking for similar things. I'm glad you enjoy what I've always posted, there will always be more of that content for sure!

    7. People are saying they dont want affiliate links, but that is how they pay and run their blogs. Everybody wants FREE DIY tips and FREE makeovers, but that stuff costs. The Nordstrom sale is a big drive for those bloggers who have a large following. It is easy to complain about links when most of you work a 9 to 5 that pays you bi weekly.

If people stop using affiliate links and they stop getting paid, then they will stop blogging. Blogging is a business. People blog to pay bills.

Everybody wants something for free, but complain when people have to support themselves. If they opened up a go fund me account folks wont donate.

You enjoyed Pinterest as long as it was free. Then when Pinterest added ads and promoted pins, people started complaining, but let Pinterest go down for a few hours and yall wouldnt know how to boil water.

      Stop complaining.

    1. Thank you so much. The name IS catchy, I just wondered if I needed something that reflected what I blog about a little more. It would be a huge pain to change, though, so I think I'm making peace with keeping it the same!

Thank you so much for your comments, they're helping me out a lot! :)

  5. I totally believe that people come to your blog because of what you have already established. Sometimes changing things is not good. Since this is working, what is the need to change anything.

  6. I love your blog because of the colors that are your favorite, haha does that make sense? The black and white classic, with pops of color is just my style and I love seeing how you decorate with those colors. I really like your content. How abut including things your kids are enjoying, what they like to buy, what you your husband likes to buy, etc. I love posts like that because they give me ideas on how to shop for family members. I also enjoy that you cook with normal ingredients that most people use on a daily basis and when you do a project it's not crazy expensive, it is in within reach. Keep up the good work!!!

  8. After poring over tons of blogs and pins on pinterest, I used your Living Room as inspiration for my own, and it is the happiest room in my house! Yours is the only blog I visit regularly. I think any direction you want to take this blog would be great, since I already love everything you do (table settings especially)! One thing I'd wonder about: what are your plans/ideas for the blog? If you let us in on a few details, maybe we could give our opinion?

    1. I guess the main thing I'm planning is a new design/layout. I'm ready for something fresh! Also, I know I've needed to add a project gallery for years, I want to make things easier to find if you're searching for something in particular. Also, I'd like to branch out into some other topics occasionally (like I mentioned fashion, and more travel maybe among other things), but the main focus would still be home and decor related. I will definitely continue to share things that I THINK would interest my readers, I just want to make sure that you all would enjoy those things too!

    2. I agree with all of the comments. You have a unique style and an outstanding sense of proportion. I love your use of color with black/white check. Delighted to know that your main focus is going to remain home décor.

  9. I have to be honest - so many blogs I used to love have made changes through the years and I am no longer interested ie certain DIY/home blogs I used to read religiously have since turned into more of a fashion blog and is always loaded down with affiliate links/shilling products. I know a lot of bloggers go to conferences, but it seems like many times, they come back and all of a sudden their blogs turn into more of a money-making thing rather than what the heart of the blog once was. I love how your blog is now. I love seeing home decor, DIY, seasonal ideas, thrifty ideas, etc. I understand sometimes change is needed so you don't get bored, but as another person said above - what you're doing now works, and I like it. :) In fact, I enjoy going back and reading your older posts from when you first started. :)

    1. I second this reader. I could do with less of your recipes because frankly, they aren't anything I haven't seen before in a church cookbook, magazine, etc. the rest of your content is unique, interesting, easy to read and follow and I wouldn't change a thing about it!

    2. I'm also not a big fan of the Friday round ups as I've usually already seen it on the original blog. I read/drool over your blog because it gives me inspirition to make a beautiful home and try to live beautifully even when we are busy. The occasional fashion/food/travel post has been fine because it has helped us get to know your unique and beautiful personality.

    4. I agree with the above. I am so OVER fashion and clothing posts. NOT that I don't like your style and clothing. Many of us know what we will and will not wear, and what we LIKE, so why be persuaded to buy or TRY something that is not us. And I'm not too interested in looking at photos of exotic places that I will never visit, but that's me - others might like that kind of stuff. My original interest in blogs was for the DIY, room makeovers, some recipes, crafty stuff. "61 and set in my ways."

    5. Oh goodness, some of those early posts are pretty embarrassing, but I'm glad you're enjoying them. I guess they show progress, right? ;)

Thank you all for your feedback, I hear ya'! This will always be a primarily home and DIY blog, but I'm hopeful that I can branch out a little and share a few other interests as well. 10. I love your home decor posts. Your style and use of color has really inspired me to make some changes in my own home. What turns me off more than anything is a DIY and home decor blog that gets caught up in the greed of constant rstyle links. I understand that bloggers need and want to make money, but when they cast aside their original concepts and start blogging more about fashion and lifestyle because they can link up hundreds of outfits a month, I stop reading. If I want a fashion blog, I'll read a fashion blog. I don't mind an occasional fashion post, maybe weekly, just as I enjoy a cooking post, a travel post, etc. But please don't abandon your original premise. You are one of the few remaining decorating blogs that I really enjoy!

  12. I used to read tons of blogs. But the more they started selling out, the less I read. You have a very unique style and I think more people want that. Most “homes” are stark white. White walls, white kitchen, white bed, white everything. I have three kids and a black pug. White is not gonna work in my house. When I found your blog I was so inspired. When I started reading your blog it was nice to see that this chick didn’t sell out. Your blog is refreshing rainbow in a sea of whitewashed everything.

Listen, I know you probably want or maybe even need to make a little cash off this blog and I think that’s perfectly fine. You are, in a way, providing a service to people. Just please only suggest or sponsor things that are true to you. Take a page from Ashley Ann’s blog, Under the Sycamore, she does the occasional sponsored posts but they always tie back to what I believe her true self to be. But always, always, always have original content outnumber the amount of sponsored posts you do. I guess in the end I worry that another blog gem I found is going to sell out and only start shilling All The White Stuff

O, and listen to your readers. They may not always be sunshine and rainbows but if someone takes the time to comment on your blog and has a “suggestion” let them know they’ve been heard. It’s just the polite thing to do.

I love your style and hope it never ever ever changes!

    1. Isn't Under the Sycamore wonderful? She is such a sweet girl. When my husband was doing church youth work early in our marriage we actually had Ashley and her husband in our youth group! Small world!

Thank you for those suggestions. Years ago when I was experimenting with styles I tried to go white and neutrals, but it SO wasn't me! I always felt like something was missing. Isn't it great that we can all have our own style? I completely agree about keeping sponsored posts related to my content, and I only do those that I think my readers will appreciate or find helpful.

Thank you for all of this great feedback, it is so helpful as I make plans for the future! :)

  15. I say if it ain't broke don't fix it. I've always been a color loving person. Probably could say flashy LOL but when it came to decorating my home I tried to keep it calm (and boring) because that's what I thought it should be. Big thing though is I was never happy. Then one day I ran across a photo on Pinterest of your green China cabinet and a whole new world opened up to me. You had me at hello. Your blog is the only one that I look at first every day and am disappointed if you haven't posted that (which is rare and I know you have a life). If I visit a blog and the decor is white on white then I move on. I have a husband, 3 sons and 4 dogs. Can you imagine what a white couch would look like at the end of the day. I love that most of your projects are DIY because if makes me feel that if you're brave enough to tackle a project then I should be also. You give me courage. Please don't veer too far from what you are doing now

    1. I hear ya', Stacye! I tried to do neutral years ago and it SO wasn't me! So glad that everyone can embrace their own style! Yeah, a white sofa would be tough in your house, and although many sing the praises of a slipcover, I KNOW I would never wash it as much as I should! I was nervous about getting my lighter colored new sofa, but it's been surprisingly fine so far... I don't let my kids sit on it if we're eating certain things like spaghetti or chocolate, though! ;)

  16. Your blog and IG page are definitely my favorites and I wouldn't want you to change anything at all. It's the perfect balance of personal reflection, home decor, DIY and fashion. Last week I unfollowed about 100 pages because they were too much alike and seemed to follow the same path. I would hope that you would not go the fashion route like so many other bloggers have. I don't mind links because I think clicking them is the least that I can do for all of the "free" advice that I get. I look forward to whatever your next project is.

I agree with another comment that a section for outfits that you put together or that mimic your style would be a lovely addition. But PLEASE don't change too much as what is here is what I love! 1. Hey Jill, sure, I don't mind. Honestly, my blog income is not very high at all (like, not even minimum wage for all the hours spent). I could make a lot more if I did more of what everyone here is saying they hate (lots of selling), and if I went after more sponsored posts. I really don't do many of those, and my main income is from the ads on my site. There is definitely the potential out there, though, if you want to go for it! 24. Your blog is my favorite for a number of reasons. First COLOR! I'm so tired of white rooms and you are brave enough to use color with abandon! Your ability to combine colors and patterns is amazing. Second, your blog is not one big advertisement. I've discontinued reading some blogs because all of their posts are sponsored by one or multiple companies. Thank you for not talking about the Nordstrom sale for three weeks. Third, I love that you share your family life with your readers. I so appreciate that you are a woman of faith. In many ways, your blog is a ministry. It is a real example of how one can live a faith based life, using your God-given gifts to create a beautiful, welcoming home and a loving, nurturing environment for family and friends while sharing with your readers so many unique decorating ideas. It is always inspiring to see what you do with your Craigslist and thrift store finds. I always look forward to your posts . Your powder room is over the top! I don't think you need to change a thing on Dimples and Tangles.

  25. As I echo the comments of your many loyal readers, please just continue what you are doing! I recently found your blog and over the course of a week or two, read the entire blog! Your style is wonderful and I so appreciate your DIY thrifty, but elegant style. In reading your blog, it's also a pleasure to see that despite your popularity in the blog world, you have not changed...you have remained genuine, humble, thrifty and generous with sharing your how-to's, sources, recipes and your faith. Sadly many blogs that I enjoyed visiting in the past, I no longer care to wade through the ads, the self-promotion or the mimic of the latest farmhouse trend. Your blog is a refreshing oasis. Anyone can create a show house with an unlimited bank account or sponsorship, but it takes real ingenuity and creative passion to create a warm, inviting home with a real-life budget. This Texas girl appreciates your style, your love of family and your humble gratitude for your home. Robin

  26. Please look for unique things to blog about. I am tired of seeing the same links, items, sales, simplistic advice from everyone. Also, the less "clicking" involved the better. I am not fond of link up parties or links with no pictures or references to where one is going. Most of us don't have a lot of time for clicking back and forth and want to be wowed and sucked in with your photos and ideas - not other bloggers.

Bloggers do like to help promote each other and I know many readers enjoy finding new blogs when I share them, so I hope you'll just stay put while you're here if you're not looking for anything new. :) Many times, too, a link is shared with no photo when we do not have permission to re-post that photo. Not trying to make excuses, just sharing a bit of why things are done that way.

  29. I am a retired grandmother of three. I enjoy your blog because it doesn't expect everyone to throw out a house of furniture and decorate with geometric fabric and painted furniture. I built my house 30 years ago, it is traditional with stained woodwork and doors. I need ideas that will coordinate with my home. There are a lot of us that aren't going to paint our "cherry wood heirlooms" or solid oak kitchen cabinets. Your ideas and blog offer concrete ideas for people with homes like mine.I would love to continue to see ideas that I could use to modernize my traditional home and furnishings.

As I read through the comment thread I see a theme, "Don't change too much!". Hopefully you feel appreciated and liked. Keep it up.

  31. I read your blog because I enjoy your creativity and the way you fearlessly use bright color, seeing you as something of a kindred spirit. I have had trouble in the past trying to comment when something called 'disqus' popped up and wanted me to login, etc. before being allowed to comment. It would also be nice to get a visit back and a comment back sometimes, too. I second the previous comments about bloggers going to the big conferences and then coming back total money-grubbers. I have stopped reading all those blogs which exist for the purpose of selling me something or wanting to make money if I happen to buy something I saw on their blog or by the number of clicks they get. I think a lot of perfectly nice people have virtually sold their souls to the devil on this one.

    1. Hi Ellen,

I used Disqus for a while because it makes it easier to reply to comments- often with Blogger the commenter's email address doesn't come through, so I can't reply directly unless I do it on the post. Then, I'm never sure if readers are checking back to see my responses. However, I realized that Disqus was tricky for most people to use, so I switched back to the Blogger comment system. Anyway, long explanation there, but improving the commenting system is definitely something I have on my to-do list!

Affiliate links and "selling things" on blogs is tricky. I always want to share things that I think my readers might be interested in, especially when I get a lot of questions about where I get things. I try to keep those in balance though, where I'm providing a source for readers who are interested, but not trying to sell things just to make money. I do, however, think it's fair to earn a commission for those things, though, when I'm doing all of the work on the front end to locate that item and share it with readers. It's just like a clerk in a store receiving a commission for the items that they have helped their customers with. Many, many hours are spent researching and sourcing those things and it's only fair for that blogger should be compensated (at no extra cost to you) for the service they've provided to you when you see something on their blog that you like and make a purchase.

And to be fair, the "conferences" are not to blame for changes that might be made in blogs. We do learn many technical skills and ways to make our blogs better, and some of those involve monetizing on the blog, but each person decides what they will do with that information and how they will use it on their blog.

I agree, I need to be better at responding to comments! Although I do read them all, responding is often the thing that falls to the wayside with only so many hours in a day. Definite room for improvement there!

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts!

    2. I know what you mean about the commissions and all the work you put into finding those things, but to be honest, that's your CHOICE to take all that time to search for these products. A lot of blogs readers don't ask for bloggers to search out products. If a blogger plans to post about a room redo they've done, then by all means tell the readers where the products came from that you are showing in pictures. But if bloggers plan a post about a room that they haven't done, and spend the hours sourcing it simply for a blog post, that was the bloggers choice. The readers didn't ask for that - the blogger chose that topic for that day's post. So in my mind, searching out and spending time to find products in order to create a post is the bloggers choice. So that's where I find it hard to wrap my brain around why it's fair to receive a commission from it. I don't know - I used to blog. It was a hobby, and I enjoyed it. I never even had ads on my blog, because as a reader, too, I found them to be annoying. I just think the overall downfall of blogs in general is when bloggers started trying to make them into businesses and receiving compensation for posts/affiliate links/sponsored posts. I might be in the minority, but I think it's a shame as the blog world has just changed over the last 10 years that I've really been a part of the community. :/

  32. Your blog is one of my absolute favorites and I wouldn't change a thing!! I love your use of color and your combinations of color. I am sick of white, white, white, and farmhouse, etc. and it's so refreshing to click on your blog and see unique style and color used in such a fun way. I don't really care about recipes since I'm not much of a cook, and don't really care about fashion or travel, either. A little of each one would be fine but please stay true to your home ideas and DIY projects and all the things that make you, YOU! Also knowing you are a woman of faith just makes it even more special, as faith is important to me. I wouldn't mind a name change for the blog but pleeeease don't change too much. I really love it like it is!!!

  36. Your blog is my favorite! It's the one I open first and I receive numerous blogs. I love mainly decorating and diy entries, but that being said, I like your recipes and have tried most of them, with my family asking for them to be repeated...so that's a good sign. Also like your fashion ideas and love it when your family is included with your posts. So I guess what I'm saying is....I like it just the way it is, but if you made changes, I'm sure I'd still like it. The aspects I like the most are: you are genuine, sincere, talented, and creative.

  38. I have read your blog for years. If you want to change or freshen your blog, go for it! Just keep the heart of your blog in tact. It frustrates me when the pop up ads take over, especially on my iPad, they hide the little X so you can't close the advertisement. I realize it is a balance when you want to make income. I personally like your wardrobe posts, we have similar style. I even went to Old Navy and got some pixie pants! I am a pastors wife too, so I appreciate your values. Maybe you can help others with design projects and post about them, before and afters.

My sister and I are considering a makeover of our Mom's living room this Fall, so I'll definitely post about that if it happens! Thank you for taking the time to share your input!

Honestly you are like an emerald on a beach of white sand. You are fearless in your design and you've created a home that reflects your personality. I can see a picture and know it's your design immediately. You've inspired ne to be more brave with my decor and to fill my home with things I love without worrying about trends. Best of all you show us how to do it on a budget. Honestly, I think your blog is perfect as it is. I especially love your seasonal tours and tablescapes. 40. Don't change the name!! It's unique and represents a special twosome. I appreciate all the DIY's, especially from thrifting or Craigslist. Gives me hope that I might be able to pull it off too! :) I've always loved your use of color ~ and the all white does nothing for me. I know those bloggers love it but I could never live in all white or neutrals. Your ability to add special touches to your decor, tablescapes and outdoor areas inspire us and rarely cost a lot. You share a lot of great entertaining ideas and they are affordable. Clean lines in a blog, no ads or pop-ups and an easy read would be my preference. If one chooses to make $$$, avoid the overload of ads!

The things I don't like about blogs: pop-ups! Oh my word, they can make a person lose any sort of religion. :) The Nordstrom sale for weeks, turning a blog into a money making operation encouraging constant purchases, cliques and those that never reply. It takes time to stop and read and comment and 90% of "big bloggers" do not respond. I hate when a blog turns into 98% fashion! How many of us are a size 2 and have unlimited funds to shop and then model? Keep it real and keep it simple!

  50. Things I love about your blog and blogs in general: anything DIY, before/after posts, thrifty scores, using things from "affordable" stores and making them work in a home, repurposing things, "shopping your house," unexpected uses of things as decor, garage sale/thrift store/craigslist finds, interesting use of fabric and color, step-by-step posts, garden ideas.

Things I don't like: bloggers that start attending blogging conferences and then come back and turn their blogs into money-making businesses, affiliate links/restyle/liketoknowit, using readers to make money rather than for sharing ideas, anything Nordstrom (soooo over Nordstom/blogger collaborations), too many sponsored posts, too many fashion posts on DIY/home decor blogs, too many ads and pop-ups.

Stay true to the reason you started your blog - as a way to share ideas and creativity among like-minded folks. Love your use of color, thrifty ideas, seasonal home decor, etc. Happy 5th! :)

Sometimes a video is useful. Currently I'm curious about the following: Could I recover a roman shade? What's the best way to add ribbon to a roman shade (pottery barn kids style) heat n bond or fabric glue? How to add black out backing to an existing roman shade? What are the best home improvement projects when your thinking of selling home in near future? Do new homeowners want carpet in living room or laminate floor? What's the best way to give curb appeal to entrance that will last through Spring, Summer and Fall? What is the cheapest way to add drawers in a closet? Someone made a "snide" comment about the recipes being the same as those found in a church cookbook - but I for one love them because they are tried and true and easy to make! Who has the luxury of spending a fortune on ingredients and also the time for fancy smancy food... I also enjoy the effort, detail and thought that you put into your posts - painting the plaid bathroom walls, redoing an ottoman. And actually I love your fashion posts that don't reflect $150 sandals or boots but more affordable fashions (I bought the striped long skirt you wrote about last year). Lastly I like how you keep reusing, thrifting and breathing new life into furnitures, etc. Many of us cannot afford to purchase new household items frequently due to kids, college tuitions, etc. And changing the name of the blog? Don't change too much!

We've come to enjoy seeing the images of your DIYs and your posts or we wouldn't be subscribers and visitors to your blog! I know that there are times that you want to step outside the box you may feel you have around you but, truly, I plead that you just make that an occaisional post!

I have been inspired countless times by your ideas and look forward to more inspiration. You can be credited with my moving from an "I hate green" attitude to embracing it and boldly incorporating it into my home. In fact, when I first discovered you blog, I spent a couple of weekend mornings with cup after cup of coffee just trekking back through time with you and enjoying the inspirational ideas and images you posted.

So many other comments have captured my feelings here but I couldn't let the opportunity to chime in pass me by. If you do feel you have to make some changes to keep things fresh for you, please, please, please make them cosmetic and not content. The look or the name of your blog is just the stamp on the envelope. The real treat is the hand-written note and the colorful and inspirational message sealed inside.

I have been so inspired that many of your posts have seemed to grab me by the hand and jerk me up out of my seat to try to put the ideas you've inspired into reality. I've painted striped pots and monogrammed blue napkins with green (after cleaning out LOTS of old napkins and placemats) and made bold-printed pillows and bought navy paint and brass handles to freshen up an old, cheap, banged-up dresser.

The inspiration keeps bubbling up with each visit as I think of ways to adapt your ideas and make them my own and make them fit into my space. Please don't implement too much change!

  61. I love your blog as it is, yet understand your desire to shake things up a bit. Please only shake a bit, not a major overhaul. First what I love about your blog: home decor with color!, DIY, your fashion posts include clothes that are not all high end (which is how most of us shop), and recipes that will be coming with easier to print directions. Please don't crazy with "branding", one of my other favorite blogs has gone that way and rarely posts original content any longer, thus I've stopped reading the blog. Also, I won't visit blogs that have popups, they simply drive me crazy, an add on the side is ok. Finally, Dimples and Tangles is a great original name that I hope you don't change.

    1. Thank you, Christa. You have echoed many suggestions here and I appreciate that feedback. It's good to know that you all will be happy if I just continue doing what I do, and nice to not have pressure for something "bigger and better!" Thanks for reading!

  62. I love your blog for the same reason most of the commenters have noted, your beautiful use of color and your wonderful personality and faith that shines through your posts. I also have to agree with some of the other commenters that endless pop ups and endless ads that take so much time to load that they freeze my computer are horrible. You don't have that problem and I hope you avoid it. I totally understand the desire to make money, but there are blogs I no longer read because they are so loaded with ads it makes it almost impossible to get the page to load in a timely manner, not to mention having to remove the ad on every single photo, the ads that drop down from the top, the ads that pop up from the bottom and the suddenly ubiquitous "please sign up for emails" pop up that covers the page. By the time I (try to) close all the ads I have wasted a ton of time and usually become so frustrated I just close the page. There has to be a better way. You have great content, keep up the good work!

  63. Jennifer, I absolutely adore your blog and look forward to seeing it in my inbox every day! Many of your projects have inspired mine and encouraged me to take that first step on some of the bigger ideas! In fact, your blog is one that inspired me to start my own. Subsequently at the same time I started an Interior Design business w/ a college friend and between that and a family the blog fell to the waste side. As of late I have been wishing it hadn't and am thinking about starting back up again. Like you, I started blogging to inspire, share my ideas & tip and trick with others, but it was also a creative outlet. Thank you for bringing color to my days and, as of late, my home!

  64. Your blog is great! I have quit many blogs due to constant pushing products. Soooo tired of "sponsored posts." Your pictures are great and not too repetitive. Many beautiful blog ladies take way too many pictures of the same outfit, maybe they think more highly of themselves than they should. It is the quickest way to get me to back out of a blog. A Christian woman should be humble, and you seem to fit that description. Also, be careful changing blog format. Many blogs become hard to navigate when changed. Another reason for quitting a blog. Your home is unique and colorful. Not like the BORING grey and white farmhouse look. Keep up the good work. There is a reason your following is growing. Also, LOVE the name. I can think of two blogs that changed their name and I can't ever remember their new name. Again, no more following.

  65. Ditto to every comment above, I did not read them all but I know they are all awesome blurbs. I think we ALL LOVE your blog. I have a ton of emails but when I see the "D" in Dimples I immediately stop and read it. I am never disappointed for sure. I know I like what I read because it is unique. It is your style because of YOU being YOU and that is what makes
your blog inviting, intriguing, fascinating, and it makes us want to take some of YOU and put it in our lives. I am so grateful for your blog and
the creative YOU....so don't go overboard with change where YOU don't need
    to, just sayin.

  66. The things I love about your blog are your love of color, lots of DIYs, Decorating, I love your ability to put together a creative vignette, anything from small tweaks to full on room makeovers, and regular content. You've got it going on in the decorating dept! I don't care for recipes. I have very strict dietetic requirements so I wont ever be interested in that part but the rest of it is all good! You and Emily Henderson are about the only blogs I follow anymore. Thanks!

  67. I have followed you for quite a while now and adore your use of color with blue and white. I have collected blue and white for years and enjoy your creative take on decorating with color. The tablescapes are one of my favorite parts of your blog. Keep up the amazing work.

  69. I had unsubscribed from many different diy and home decor blogs I used to follow regularly due to too many affiliate links and the focus shifting more to fashion. I am not interested in Nordstrom links like so many popular bloggers have turned to... your home is spectacular and I love your use of color and pattern!!! Please don't change too much. *Meadow green is now my go to spray paint color!!!

  70. Jennifer, your blog is so wonderful and I look forward to it greatly! I just want to say that I "ditto" the comments about fashion blogging (not in favor of). Occasional posts have been appreciated, but I hope you don't make them a regular feature on your blog. That's just my opinion. I also "ditto" the comments made regarding how your blog provides real life decorating ideas and DIY. Please don't make any major changes as you and your blog are wonderful as they are. You are so successful because of the existing style, writing and decorating advice. Some change is always good, but please don't mess too much with such a good thing!

  71. I love your blog. I echo so much of what has been said - be true to you and your colorful style! Styling and DIY-ing terrify me. We moved into a new house a year ago and nothing is on the walls still! But I LOVE seeing your blog, your home, your ideas. It's inspiring. I see your gingham powder bath walls and wonder "Would I ever have the guts to do that?!" The day, if it ever comes, that you decide that you want to make a go of decorating others' homes (or you run out of projects at your own home!), come over to mine! (I live in Edmond!) I love how you balance bold and colorful with comfortable and livable.

I'm not a huge fan of travel posts but I do like the occasional fashion posts. And I don't mind the affiliate links because I often like one or two pieces (often basic staples) and love to have the chance to buy them. I can't carry around pictures in my purse when I'm out shopping; plus, I'm of the "Internet buying" generation so I love "click, buy, deliver to my house." But I agree with others, stay true to your mostly home-related posts with a potpourri of other topics sprinkled in. (For example, I really enjoyed the posts from the recent home tour in Quail Creek.)

I don't love sponsored posts (speaking from a few other blogs I read). They don't have the same feel as unsponsored posts.

And, I really love your 5 favorites series (example, your 5 favorite fabrics, paint colors, etc.)!!

Keep it up! I know God will continue to lead your heart in all areas, including this beautiful blog!

  72. Gosh I just can't think of anything you could change. I folow your blog for all the eye catching design and diy content, the way you put colors together and MOSTLY the way you use 'amazing color combos' and not just what's trendy right now.please keep doing that anyway! You have a great blog already. I love it. Marie

  74. Hi, Jennifer! I LOVE your blog! If I only have time to look at one blog on a day, I choose yours! I love your home decor & decorating ideas! I love the seasonal decor, your faith, your black & white combined with bright colors & patterns, and also love the name of your blog (wouldn't change it)! I love seeing the kids & hubby, too because as another comment said, it helps us get to know you. I like seeing fashion occasionally (esp the accessories: totes, purses, jewelry) but am more into the home decor! Overall, I hope you don't change much! it's an amazing blog as it is!!! However, there are two things I would like to see you add: 1) Would love to see something on your time-management, how do you manage all the beautiful home decorataing/DIY's while being a Mom & a wife to a pastor, & write an awesome blog! Would love to learn any of your time-management tips/tricks! also, would love to see a "Day in the Life of Jennifer" post. 2) Would love to see your storage tips for storing holiday home decor and just extra decorating items. Do you store in closets, out in garage, etc.? Thanks for your wonderful blog! It makes my day! Patti in Texas

  75. I'm a blog surfer, my interest is looking at home décor and yours is definitely one of my favorites. How in the world you manage to mix a patterns in a room and use such bold color is beyond me and I am simply amazed. I love the name, its cute and catching, one I've never forgotten. I used your blog as a starting point when my last computer dies and I lost all my "favorites" and to start from the beginning. Slowly I have recovered my list by using your list. Your great just the way you are.
