For the next month, I'm so excited to be joining some of my blogger friends as we prepare for the holidays (Thanksgiving is already less than a month away)! The craze and busy-ness of the season can quickly turn stressful, so we thought we'd try to curb some of the crazy and try to get some things knocked off of our prep to-do lists early. Each week we'll focus on a different room of the house, and pick one small project (ideally fairly quick and easy), to tackle in order to be more prepared as the holidays roll around. Many thanks to our smart friend Lisa from Shine Your Light for coming up with this idea and issuing the challenge to get our homes in order! This week we're focusing on the Kitchen...probably the most important room for holiday prep! I decided to overhaul my pantry- cleaning it out, taking stock of what I have, getting it organized, and sprucing it up a bit. ...

DOES YOUR KITCHEN NEED A LITTLE SUMMER REFRESH?
This post is sponsored by Walmart. Raise your hand if you have a weakness for dishes like I do! If you've been around here long you know I'm a fan of mixing and matching what I have, but a new piece here and there thrown into the mix makes things more fun and gives me even more options; it's always an easy solution when I'm feeling the need for a little refresh in the kitchen. And in the Summer when the kitchen is often the last place you might want to be, a few new pieces or kitchen tools sure can make those day in, day out tasks a lot more fun, and even the simplest of meals feel extra special. ...

MY FIVE FAVORITES: WAYS TO USE MIXED METALS
My blog friends Pam of Simple Details , Lisa of Shine Your Light , Kris of Driven by Decor and I are back today (and the first Tuesday of every month) for this month's feature of My Favorite Five. Today we're sharing our favorite ways to mix metals! This month we're happy to welcome our guest host Claire from Claire Brody Designs . I've known Claire for a few years and have even met her personally and she is an absolutely lovely person. Let me tell you, this is one talented young lady! Claire has the perfect combo of a keen eye for design and the willingness to take a risk. The result is always a sophisticated, bold, well curated space that might just be mistaken for a design out of a magazine. She recently made over her parents' living room , where she seamlessly combined old and new, modern and traditional, resulting in an absolutely jaw-dropping space. We're so glad Claire has joined us tod......

CHRISTMAS 2014 HOME TOUR {BLOGGER STYLIN' HOME TOURS}
Welcome friends, I'm so glad to have you here today! I'm am always thrilled to participate in each installment of Blogger Stylin' Home Tours, it's one of the best blog tours around! A million thanks to Lindsay of The White Buffalo Styling Company for organizing the tour and keeping the 40+ bloggers that participate informed and in line...that's no minor task! If you're joining me from Beth's at Home Stories A to Z , thanks for coming over! And if you missed Beth's tour, head over right away to check out her amazing Christmas kitchen. I have a soft spot in my heart for kitchens right now (I just completed a kitchen refresh makeover ). My approach to decorating is to use what I love, find unique treasures (mostly from thrift shops, yard sales, and Craigslist), not be afraid to make something my own, always include bright pops of color, and just have fun with it and everything usually works out in the end. If not, we just go back to the drawin......

LANTERNS IN THE KITCHEN {AGAIN}
Ok, so I've never claimed to be a "real" decorator or designer. This blog is solely an outlet for me to share what I'm doing in my own home. That being said, my home is totally my place to experiment with decor, and I change things often. Many times things are done on a trial and error basis. It helps that I do a lot of the work myself and when I get the itch to change I try to do it on a budget, and if I make a mistake not much more is lost than my time and effort. Sometimes I get it right, sometimes I don't... and I try again. I think that's the key for anyone making their home a place that they love. If at first you don't succeed, keep trying. Don't be afraid to admit that you might have made a decorating mistake, move on, and start over. When we did a kitchen refresh about a year and a half ago, I replaced the large lanterns that we had installed over the island with brass lotus flower pendants . With the lanterns I le......

2016 FALL HOME TOUR (PART 1)
Hello friends, I'm so glad you're here today! I'm delighted to be a part of the 2016 Fall Home Tours hosted by Marty at A Stroll Thru Life . If you're visiting from Setting for Four, welcome! Didn't you enjoy Heather's tour? If you're visiting for the first time today, let me introduce myself. I'm Jennifer and I live in Edmond, Oklahoma, where my husband is a Baptist minister, and we have two teenagers, a son (dimples) and a daughter (tangles). I adore bold color and mixing patterns , get excited about a great Craigslist score , and am not afraid to get my hands dirty with a DIY project. It is still a bit early to be fully decked out for Fall, but I added some small touches around the house to usher in the season. I wanted to keep things very simple yet interesting, so I focused on bringing in some cozy colors, accessories found in nature, texture, and mixed metals. ...

If you're visiting from Decorating Delirium , I'm so glad you stopped by. Apparently Jennifer loves color and pattern just as much as I do! Let's begin the tour today with my Entry at the front door. I actually shared this space a few weeks ago with a new look for Spring, so here's just a little peek. If you missed it earlier and want to see more, click over to see all of the details and more photos, including the 3 different ways that I styled it. ...

KIDS' JACK AND JILL BATHROOM REVEAL
Well if one thing is clear from our Kids' Jack and Jill Bathroom Makeover, it's that I need a deadline to finish a project in a timely manner- ha! We started this project in early September and here we are nearly 6 months later and I hung the last picture, hung the cornice, and finished a few little last details yesterday. I'm happy to report though that it's 100% finished... no pesky last 5-10% of the little insignificant details in a project left to do like I normally have at the end of a big room makeover. ...
