April 2017 - Dimples and Tangles

SWEET SATURDAY #14

This Entry with floor to ceiling gallery wall is jaw dropping.  I love the warmth and eclectic mix and drama.  Claire and her husband are renovating their first home, and it's been so fun to follow her progress.  Her new bathroom reveal is just as stunning!

THIS HOUSE: OUR HOME FOR 10 YEARS

We can hardly believe it, but this month marks our 10th anniversary of living in this house.

My parents have never moved since they married almost 50 years ago, so I always lived in the same house growing up.  After marrying, we moved around a bit, but this is the longest I've ever lived in a house other than my childhood home.  My husband's dad is a pastor, so they moved around throughout his childhood and our current home is the one he's lived in the longest in his life.  So, it's quite a milestone for many reasons!

KELLY'S THAI SOUP RECIPE

I didn't grow up as a very adventuresome eater.  Not that I was particularly picky, my Mom was just more of a chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy, Indian Tacos kind of cook.  Which I didn't mind at. all.  However, as an adult, I've learned to branch out and find new things even now that I've never had before.

When we visited London almost 3 years ago, my friend Kelly made this delicious Thai soup for dinner one night.  I had never had anything like it before, and it was an immediate hit with us so I was sure to get the recipe from her before we left!  She was kind enough to allow me to share it with you today.

WORKS IN PROGRESS

I share projects that I'm working on and sneak peeks pretty regularly on my Instagram Stories, but I realized you all don't usually see little bits and pieces of what I'm working on until I'm sharing the finished product.  So today, I thought I'd share a few of our works in progress with you, too!

Last year our outdoor focus was on the patio, and since it's all finished up this year we're focusing on on our back yard landscaping.  We've done a few things here and there over the years, but that basically consisted of plopping a few knockout roses in a bed and calling it good.  The roses all got diseased last year, so we tore everything out and we're starting from scratch in the back yard.

We dug out an entirely new bed outside of our bedroom on one side of the patio,

A FEW OF MY FAVORITES, ON SALE!

Hey y'all!  I hadn't planned a post today, but one of my favorite sites is having a store-wide sale, so I wanted to pop in and let you know about it before it's over!

Without question, this is my favorite little clutch to carry.  It mixes and matches beautifully with lots of patterns, or dresses up a solid t-shirt and jean combo in a flash!  Several colors available.

PRETTY PINK AND GREEN EASTER TABLE

A few weeks ago I posted a photo of one of my Easter tables from years past on Instagram, saying that I hadn't come up with a plan for this year's table yet.  One of my followers said that she'd like to see my take on pastels.  My first thought was "I don't do pastels", but the thought stuck in my mind.  So, although there is still some punchy color, I guess this is as close as I get to doing pastels!

PINK LEMONADE PIE RECIPE

I could have titled this "The Best Spring Dessert Ever" or "Tasty Easter Dessert" or "The Easiest Dessert Ever", because it's all of those things!  Actually, around our house, Pink Lemonade Pie is my husband's favorite dessert so we have it year round for holidays, his birthday, or as a quick dessert to make a week night just a bit more special.  I learned to make it from his Mom shortly after we got married, and have been making it for almost 23 years ever since!

IF YOU MISSED IT {JANUARY-MARCH}

At the end of last year I shared our Best of 2016 post, so I skipped wrapping up the year with a monthly review.  Now, the first 3 months of 2017 have gone by in a flash so I thought I'd take the opportunity to catch you up on the highlights if there's anything you've missed.

MY FIVE FAVORITE IKEAS PRODUCTS IN MY HOME

Welcome to My Five Favorites today!  Pam from Simple Details, Lisa from Shine Your Light, Kris from Driven by Decor and I are all so excited to share our favorite purchases from Ikea with you today.

We're so happy to have Rhoda from Southern Hospitality as our guest this month.  I've been blessed to get to know Rhoda personally this past year, and she is one neat lady!  Her love for what she does and for her family is always an encouragement to me.  And, it's so fun to follow along with the fixer upper that she's been working on for the past 5 years or so (it's almost unrecognizable from where she started!).  I'm anxious to see Rhoda's favorites today and am wondering if there are any Ikea goodies in this darling corner of her den...

HOW TO MAKE A LINED CURTAIN PANEL- BLACK AND WHITE STRIPED CURTAINS TUTORIAL

Several of you said that you noticed my new black and white striped curtains in my Spring Tour last week even before I mentioned them in the post.  Good eye!  As I mentioned, I still like my old curtains, but after 6 years I was feeling the need for a change.  The process really isn't that difficult, so I thought I'd share my version of how to make a lined curtain panel with you today.  Here's my disclaimer:  I'm not a professional seamstress... this may not be the "correct" way to make a panel, it's not weighted or pleated or perfect, but it's the easiest way I've found and it works for me.
