CUTE AND COLORFUL NEW BARGAIN HOME ACCESSORIES

Hello friends!  I've found some new home accessories recently that I couldn't wait to share with you!  They're from the new Mainstays by Becky G & Alejandra line from Walmart, so you know they're affordable but they are SO CUTE too!  And really fantastic quality!  It all started when my good friend texted me a photo of these pillows saying "have you seen these???"  At the time I was in the middle of fluffing the patio for the season and I immediately knew they would be perfect for the new chairs I found at Homegoods.  Striped Pillow   ||  Similar Swivel Chairs   ||  Similar Rugs  The texture and detail in the design is so good!  Love the contrast piping and there's a hidden zipper if I ever want to wash the cover or change the insert.  These are not specified as outdoor pillows, but I treated them with this to repel water and hopefully prevent fading.  I've had them in place for at least a month and so far so g......

THIS HOUSE: OUR HOME FOR 10 YEARS

We can hardly believe it, but this month marks our 10th anniversary of living in this house. My parents have never moved since they married almost 50 years ago, so I always lived in the same house growing up.  After marrying, we moved around a bit, but this is the longest I've ever lived in a house other than my childhood home.  My husband's dad is a pastor, so they moved around throughout his childhood and our current home is the one he's lived in the longest in his life.  So, it's quite a milestone for many reasons! ...

HAND PAINTED GINGHAM WALL TUTORIAL

This tutorial has been a long time coming, I'm sorry it's taken so long to put together if you've been looking for it.  I'm so glad I took the time to record the key steps as I did them, because now, 3 months later, there's no way I would have remembered all of the details! So many who scanned the reveal of my Powder Bath or saw it posted on Instagram commented about the wallpaper, which I guess is a compliment, but goodness... I worked hard painting that wall... wallpaper would have been a breeze!  Honestly, though, it was worth it and I'm still so, so happy with the finished product! I don't want to make it sound too daunting, though.  Yes, there is a lot of math and measuring and marking and steps involved, but it's a totally doable project with a big payout for not much of an investment- just time and paint.  Turning the pattern diagonally and wrapping it around the room definitely added some difficulty (especially in this room that actual......

IF YOU MISSED IT {MARCH, APRIL, MAY}

First of all, Happy Memorial Day, everyone!  I'm thankful to those who have or are currently serving our great country, and to the families of those who lost someone as they served. Our kids are both out of town on church youth choir trips, so we're planning on spending lots of time right here today (and I'll FINALLY be revealing this entire space to you next week!)   Sofa  ||   Rug  ||   Red Pillow  ||   Blue Pillow  ||   Brass Ginger Jar  ||  Flag Afghan, vintage  ||   Similar Blue and White Pot  Whew, time flies fast!  I try to do a review like this once every other month, but May totally slipped by me.  Here are the highlights from the past few months... My blog friends and I are loving sharing Our Five Favorites with you on the first Tuesday of every month.  We'll be back with another installment next Tuesday. My Five Favorite Ways to Decorate for Spring My Five Favo......

HOW TO ADD SIMPLE MOULDING TO A DOOR

HOW TO ADD SIMPLE MOULDING TO A DOOR

No matter if it's in a quaint cottage or Windsor Castle, the one thing that completely elevates the look of a door is moulding!  We are fortunate that the interior doors in our home are solid and heavy, and most of them already had decorative moulding added to the flat doors.  The doors to our Master Bath were an exception, and I fancied those up last year for my Master Bedroom makeover . When planning my recent Powder Bath makeover , since it was such a small space, I wanted to pack the room full of interesting details. One spot that was full of opportunity was the back of the door.  The front of the door that faces the hallway was already trimmed in moulding, but the back was plain.  Wanting the back of the door to have a surprise factor when one entered the room, I chose to paint it a bold color, but knew it needed to have trim added as well.  Although I wanted some detail, I also wanted to keep it simple, so I just mirrored the design that was on the......

DIY FLOATING ACRYLIC FRAME TUTORIAL

DIY FLOATING ACRYLIC FRAME TUTORIAL

The pair of floating acrylic frames is one of my favorite parts of our new Powder Bath - that probably has nothing to do with the fact that the photos are of my growing way too fast kids.  ;)  All along, I knew I wanted to keep the artwork in there simple, and wanted something mainly green to go with the black and white color palette.  I considered something like the palm prints that I talked about here , but in the end wanted something a little more personal.  I envisioned some photos with the kids in the lush green creek area outside our backyard.  And, while I thought that formal portraits of my kids might be a little TOO personal when guests are visiting the potty, my sis brainstormed with me and we thought some whimsical photography art would be fun and a little more appropriate for the room. So, they humored me (it was Mother's Day, they had no choice), and wore the clothes I requested and posed how I asked and we snapped a few photos.  The id......
