2016 CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR PART 3- FRONT PORCH AND ENTRY

Today I am thrilled and honored to be a part of the Deck the Halls Christmas Home Tour, hosted by the incredibly talented ladies of Decor Gold Designs and Randi Garret Design.  If you found your way here via Randi Garrett Design, can I just tell you how glad I am that you're here?  Randi's exquisite style is such an inspiration to me, and after meeting her in person last summer, I admire her even more!

If you're a new reader, let me take a moment to introduce myself.  I'm a wife and mom of two teens, a boy and a girl, living in Edmond, Oklahoma (I'm a proud born and raised Okie!).  My husband is a Southern Baptist Minister, and although I have a degree in Education and taught 3rd grade in the early years of our marriage, since having children I have stayed home with them.  I've always had a love for decorating and started blogging about our home 5 years ago at my husband's encouragement, amazed that anyone would have any interest in the little projects that I was doing.  We're approaching 10 years of living in this house, and we've been working on one project or another all along the way.  You can catch my full home tour here.

Today I'm sharing our Front Porch and Entry with you.   You'll quickly see that while my colleagues in this tour do neutrals beautifully, I'm just a bit crazy about color!

Years ago (pre-Pinterest!) I tore out a page from a Pottery Barn catalog that had large ornaments hanging from the porch ceiling.  I incorporated that idea by hanging a few ornaments acoss a beam on my porch (shatterproof- just in case).  This year I added a few more stars along with the ornaments, too (I'll take the stars down when the weather gets nasty, everything else is fine in the elements).

I've come across two old sleds at garage sales over the years, and while they're the perfect porch decor, my son is really hoping for enough snow soon to try one out!

I've never been completely pleased with a round wreath on our door since it has an oval shaped window, so I shamelessly copied this simple, darling fresh greenery swag idea from my friend Kris.  I already had the bells (TJ Maxx), so it was basically a free project!

Moving inside, let's take a peek at our Entry.  I painted the french doors black years ago and have never been sorry.  The dresser is a painted Craigslist find, as well as the large mirror.  I love to collect pieces here and there and throw everything together that I like, hoping that it all lives happily together.

Toile Tote || Green Paint and How to Paint Ceramics || Brass Deer- vintage

Dresser and Door Color- SW Tricorn Black || Striped Rug

These party decorations added in for Christmas make me happy... since Christmas is the biggest Birthday Party of all!  The cords to the stars are looped over and hang down the back of the mirror, and everything else is attached with a simple piece of masking tape on the back.

Stars and Green Honeycomb balls- old Ikea || Round Paper Fans- Hobby Lobby

Thank you SO much for stopping by my home today!  Last week I shared more of my Christmas home with you, I'd love for you to stop by if you missed it.

  9. Your porch looks great! I may need to follow Kris' lead next year too! It's our first Christmas in this house and the round wreath against the oval glass on the front door isn't working for me.

    1. It is SO easy, and took about 5 minutes to put together! I think ornaments hanging in a cluster instead of the bells would be cute, too. Congratulations on your new house!
