JEWEL TONE CHRISTMAS TREE DECORATIONS

'Tis the season! As I thought about what I wanted to do for my Christmas decor this year, I was ready to switch things up a bit.  Usually, I stick with traditional Christmas red and green, and I've even done a more neutral metallics color scheme.  This gorgeous tree that my sweet friend worked on last year has been stuck in my head for months, and I knew that using jewel tone Christmas decorations this year was the direction I wanted to go.   There are a lot of colors there that I haven't used before, so I needed to stock up on some new ornaments and decorations.  At Home Stores has a huge seasonal selection, ranging from trees and floral to outdoor displays to ornaments to decorative accessories to gift wrap.

Everything you see on this tree can be found at At Home (except the candle ornaments, which I already had on hand).  I was able to mix and match all of the colors I wanted.  And if you all have been around for my Christmas tours in the past, you know it's not Christmas without some disco balls thrown in!

Here are the ornaments I used to deck this tree out (all shatterproof!):
Jewel Tone Vintage Look set || Jewel Tone with Silver Glitter set || Turquoise Matte || Turquoise Shiny & Matte Mix || Purple Mix || Silver Mirrored Balls- Mini or  Set of 3 || Lime Green Shiny or Glitter || Red Shiny or Matte || Mini Multi-Color

Decorating tip:  Adding ornaments of the same color but different finishes (shiny, matte, glitter) adds dimension and interest to the tree.

In addition to a variety of colorful ornaments, I added a few accent pieces.  Simple red velvet wired ribbon tied into bows and glitter edged lime green poinsettias draw your eye in.  I thought these peacock feather clips added a different texture and loved how they pulled in more turquoise and green.

There are so many creative tree topper ideas, but I'm stuck in my ways and love a gold star on top.  I've never had one that lights up, though, so I was thrilled to find this Lighted Star Tree Topper to add some sparkle.

Yay me!  I actually already had some gifts to wrap.  I found a good selection of gift wrap from At Home to coordinate with the tree, as well as more red ribbon to tie on for the gifts.  A simple red ribbon tied around a gift gets me every time!  Sometimes I like to select an ornament that fits the recipient of the gift and attach it to their present, and when I spotted these jeweled initial ornaments I thought they would make the perfect gift tags.  (Did you notice that cute tree skirt?  I'll be telling you more about that on Monday.)

Lastly, every tree needs a cozy spot to relax and gaze at the twinkling lights at night!

Even though I set my tree up early to give you all time to gather ideas and round up what you'll need for your own tree this year, I'm a wait-until-after-Thanksgiving kind of girl at heart.  So, I'm going to tuck this in another room for a while and pull it back out in a few weeks, and I'll add some of our special family ornaments into the mix as well.  Today I wanted all of the goodies available from At Home to be the stars of the show!

What colors are you using this year?  Do you love neutrals for Christmas, are you a traditional red and green decorator, or are you planning to mix things up?

  3. I always do a jewel tone tree and I love it. However, some years, I wish I had traditional red and green. The grass is always greener on the other side, I guess :)

  6. Thanks Denise! I don't know why it's so hard to find a good star topper- they either look cheesy or are too small or are the wrong color. This one was perfect, and such a bonus that it's lit!
