WHAT'S ON MY IKEA LIST

Since we're on Spring Break this week, yesterday we skipped town for a few days.  We didn't go far and don't have big plans...staying in a hotel, flipping through cable (which we don't have at home), and eating out is enough to keep us happy.

However, you can bet I'm squeezing some shopping in!  We just happen to be staying near Ikea, which I only get to visit about once a year, so I though I'd share with you what's been on my list.

#1- Lappljung Ruta pillows- Black and white aztec pillows.  I tried to buy these on my last trip, but they were sold out!  Hoping they are in stock this time.  Because clearly I need more black and white pillows.

#2-The Expedit shelves.  For my son's room that we're working on.  Hoping these will provide a good balance of storage cubbies and display space for all of those Lego Star Wars ships.  I know you moms of boys know what I mean.

EXPEDIT Shelving unit IKEA Finished on all sides. Can also be used as a room divider.

#3-The Knappa light.  Not sure where it's going yet, I just like it and it's very affordable.

#4-Ribba frames for these prints.  Not completely sure if these will work but I'm going to check them out.

#5-The Rast dresser.  I think.  I know, not much to look at, but there are countless options of fabulous ways to transform this $35 solid wood little dresser.

I've searched Craig's List for over a year for matching nightstands, but these may be a good option since I haven't found anything else.  These are what I really really want, but no luck yet.

#6-I'm itching for a new rug for my entry.  Just going to check out options.

KOLDBY Cowhide IKEA The cowhide will retain its natural appearance and quality for a long time.
Ikea Koldby

#7-And, I'm not sure if I'll find them at Ikea or Homegoods, but I need some good drum shades.  I have a new pair of thrifted lamps and I'd love to do something like this with the shades-

The large drum shade at Target isn't quite big enough so I'm hoping to come across a good option.

Hopefully we'll be visiting the big blue store this afternoon or tomorrow.  You can follow me on Instagram to keep up with all of the riveting details.  By the way, Instagram has quickly become my favorite form of social media.  Facebook, Twitter...I can take them or leave them but I'm addicted to my IG feed!  Are you on Instagram?

  4. Hope you are enjoying your little get-away! I always have to have a list for IKEA or else I'm sunk the minute I walk inside the big doors -- so many things to see, touch & measure! We are fortunate (or maybe it's a curse) to have an IKEA about twenty minutes away. I have used several of the Expedits (different sizes) in my "Momma-Cave" and closet, in the guest room, and the Man-Cave. They are a wonderful storage system!

  9. They have cowhide rugs at Sam's Club for $99 here in Mississippi. They are as nice as any I have located at other retail locations. Just a thought if you have your heart set on one.

  10. For all our bedrooms, we always buy the 3-drawer chests (sometimes called a batchelor chest) instead of the traditional night stands b/c they take up about the same amount of floor space but provide so much storage. I too had looked at these little wood chests in the Ikea catalog with a mind to get one & paint it, but I would have never thought of the great ideas you linked for doctoring up these little chests. Hmmmm, great ideas!!!

  13. I just did six shades in black with gold interiors for some antique wall sconces. They started out white. I should have primed them with a really good primer like gesso because it was difficult to get good enough coverage so bald spots don't show thru w/the lights on. And I used an oil based gold leaf to paint the insides.

Hope your trip to Ikea went well, and you know, I can always send you whatever you need from there if they are out of stock....any excuse to get me in that store works for me ;). Hope the kids are having a good break, I know mine are all ready for summer break to begin.
