Planting Pots

Last summer we had a record-breaking amount of days where the temperature soared over 100 degrees.  I'm SO enjoying this spring...days of steady rain and everything is so lush and green.  I'm really hoping it stays that way for a while!

I've been working on planting pots around the porches and the yard.  This year I took the easy way out on quite a few of them and took advantage of a great sale at Home Depot last week...$3.50 hanging pots.  I stalked the store every morning to see what they got in on a new truck, and ended up with lots of hot pink geraniums and verbena.  The geraniums had 3 good plants in each pot, so I split some of them up into smaller pots and combined some of them with other plants in larger pots.  With several of them I just re-potted the entire hanging basket in a pretty planter and called it done!

I've still got a lot of work to do on some other pots and in the flower beds,
but I'm gathering some beautiful images of flowers in containers that actually wouldn't be too difficult to put together as inspiration.

Funny kid moment for the day:

I pulled these out of the oven for a snack after school yesterday, and Caleb said "Cool, how'd you do that?" (I haven't done these slice and bake holiday cookies before, so he's never seen them.)  I gave my "It's magic" reply to which he responds "Let me guess...you learned it from a blog!"  :)  The boy knows his mother well.  Come to think of it, how DO they get that shape in those cookies?

  5. Love your pots from last year. I too do pots every year and change the colour combinations. Not sure what I'll do this year... hmm, you've started me thinking :)

  6. Love the plants. I'm still a month to a month-and-a-half away from that project. And I always start out gung-ho and by mid-July my planter boxes are gasping for water ...
