Don't Wash $$ Down the Drain

In our house, we like to use the foaming soap pumps.  They are especially helpful in the kids' bathroom, but it's amazing how quickly a bottle can get used up.  Did you know that they are mostly water and can be refilled for pennies?

Open your empty pump and pour in about 1/8-1/4 of the bottle's capacity with soap.  I use the clear refill soap, I'm not sure if it would work with the creamy, thicker, moisturizing type soap.

Fill the rest of your bottle gently with water, leaving a bit empty at the top so it won't overflow when you put the pump back on.

Screw the pump back on and gently swirl the water and soap until they are well combined.

Wash up!  Often I even buy the little $0.88 bottles of soap at Wal-Mart that are scented raspberry, melon, or whatever.  They work great too and that little bottle will make 4-5 refills.

I'm sure I'm telling lots of you something you already know, but hopefully this is a helpful little tip for someone!

  6. I love the foaming soaps, but after my friend mentioned how fast you finish up a bottle I stopped using them. I am thrilled to give this a try and bring the foaming soap back into my life!

  7. I was just thinking about doing a post on this the other day. I have been refilling my foaming pump for a while now. Works like a charm and like you said for mere pennies of what a new bottle of foaming soap costs.

  11. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
Foaming soap is sooo easy for the kids to wash their own hands, but the stuff gets expensive. My son's bathroom needs a refill as we speak - I am going to go try this!! :)
