Using Sand Timers in Decor

Several years ago I thought sand timers were just a trendy toy that my niece had on her Christmas list, and were found at the teen store at the mall.  Lately I've noticed them popping up everywhere!  I've seen some great ones at TJ Maxx and Marshalls, but you better snatch one up when you see it or it will be gone the next time you're there
(trust me).  Now it's my favorite new accessory!

I have a friend who just moved into a new home and she picked one up for a lovely little vignette on her kitchen island.  I came across this one at Tuesday Morning-once again-didn't buy one the first time I saw them and when I went back they only had 1 left.  Whew!

This one looks a bit heart shaped to me.  It's been perfect sitting out this month!

Do you use sand timers as accessories?  I remember my mom having a brass one when I was little that we used when practicing the piano.  I may have to see if that one is still around, too.  Brass is back!

Would you like to comment?

  1. HA! I had one in my hand at TJ Maxx a couple days ago and put it back! Bummed, now that I see your beautiful vignette! You have an eye for styling, girlfriend!

  2. oooh the shape of your sand timer is so pretty. My kids would not be able to keep their hands off of one of those!

  3. I have never used one, but I totally love the look!

  4. Ohh I have seen them every where, yours is super cute though! I'm gonna have to search my Tuesday Morning!

  5. Love what you did Jennifer. No, I don't still have the timer. It is one of the things I wish I had not gotten rid of. When you talked about using it at the piano I had just thought about that same thing the other day. Love you Jennifer, Mom

  6. Jen, I just love the new look in your kitchen. What a gift you have. Can't wait to see the pillows. Love, Mom
