We're baaaaaack!  After taking a little break for the holidays, we're back today to see the best of YOUR nest.  And, we're kicking off this new year with a special new addition to our link party... keep reading!

There's lots of hype going on about the big game this week. Although I could almost care less about the game, my family enjoys the evening and I enjoy making some special snacks while they're watching the hoopla.

This is one of our all time favorite dips- for church fellowships, dinner appetizers, Christmas Eve snacks, VBS treats- everyone loves it! And, it couldn't be easier to make.  There are only 4 simple ingredients that you probably already have on hand, and two of those are cheese.  How much better can it get?

Here's what you'll need-

Before Christmas, my girl really wanted to know what she could get for me.  Considering her limited budget and that fact that I'd rather have something hand made by her any day, I thought about what she could make for me.

Last summer I was invited by Crane & Canopy to create an inspiration board for a bedroom using one of their bedding sets.  It was so fun to put together, and I was thrilled when they agreed to partner with me to bring the design to life.

Several months ago I met up with darling Emily of Eleven Gables to browse Hobby Lobby and TJ Maxx together.  She was wearing these super fun boots, and as the winter has progressed I've wished for a pair of my own.  But really, I already have more boots than I can wear, so I couldn't justify seriously considering them. (Although I will admit I have my eye out this year for the perfect cognac colored boots on clearance this year!)

Then, a few weeks ago, I found these in my closet that I had totally forgotten about (that might tell you a little about my closet...).

We've been on staff at our current church for 11 1/2 years now.  Early on in our time here, I used to play Bunco with a fun group of gals.  It was such a great way to make friends and deepen relationships (because although "Bunco" was technically our activity, we all knew that was just an excuse for Girls' Night Out with lots of food and chatting!).  We each took turns hosting every month, opening our home and providing dinner for the rest of the group.  One member would always make a variety of quiches when it was her turn to host, and that was always one of my favorite nights!  Meaty cheesy savory yumminess in a pie crust... what could be better?

She graciously shared the recipe with me all those years ago, and this has become an often used recipe in my arsenal.  We most often make it for breakfast, but I also love to fix this for lunch and accompany it with a salad.  It needs minimal prep work and can be ready in a flash!

Here's the ingredients:

Thank you so much for your refrigerator suggestions from my last post!  Most of you seem to really love your french doors with freezer on the bottom, and you all gave us many good things to consider.  We're heading out to shop tomorrow, so hopefully it will be an easy decision.

Over the weekend we celebrated my son's 14th birthday.  I'm not sure how 14 years have flown by so quickly.  He's a fantastic kid and we are so proud and blessed that he belongs to us!

If you've been reading a while you know that even though they are by no means perfect, I enjoy making my kids' birthday cakes, usually centered around whatever they are most interested in at the time.

Well, this year, he's crazy about trains.  My Mom gave him a small starter set years ago, but over the past year or so he's really developed an interest in playing with it (and can I just state that I'm kinda glad he's 14 and still interested in playing with toys?!?).  He even has a notebook that he takes in the car with him every time we go somewhere so he can keep track of the numbers of the engines and different lines he's seen.  When he develops a new interest he definitely goes all out!

We bought a new fridge when we switched out all of our appliances about 4 1/2 years ago, and we've pretty much hated it since day one.  The crushed ice comes out everywhere (around the cup) and I don't like how the inside is configured.  And,  in an effort to minimize fingerprints and smudging, we bought the "stainless steel look", which looks like stainless but isn't.  Well, it doesn't show prints, but it's film like plastic-y coating scratches easily.  Sometime a while back the cubed ice stopped working altogether, so now all we get is crushed.

Over the weekend while filling cups with ice for a party, I started to smell something terrible, like an electrical burn.  The smell permeated everything in the fridge and freeze, and is still there now.  We're not really sure what happened, but figure that the ice maker is shot.  Considering we've never liked it anyway, we don't want to sink any money into getting it fixed and are taking this opportunity to start over.

With the beginning of a new year upon us, I suspect most of us would like to be more organized.  I'm raising both my hands, because although it may appear very differently, my "stashes" can get pretty messy.  One of my biggest problem areas is the kitchen counter, specifically that spot right there!

Well hello there, friends, welcome back and happy 2015!  I completely enjoyed my break over the holidays and will admit it's a little tough to get back in the habit of posting.  I hope you all had a blessed holiday season and that your new year is off to a great start!

I realize I'm late to the party, but I wanted to to include a review of 2014 before forging ahead into new material.  I hope if you're a newer reader you find some inspiring things here, and if you're an old friend there might just be something you missed.

This list grew much longer than I originally anticipated, but I figured I'd just include all of these in one big post and be done with the wrap-up.

First up, furniture makeovers and a project that's almost exactly one year old and I still love it as much today as back then.  Adding a graphic fabric to the backs of my kitchen chairs really stepped them up a notch, and I didn't actually reupholster anything!
