Today I'm closing out 2015 by sharing my best makeovers from the past year. What is it about a great before and after that we all love so much? We started early in the year with my Girl's Bold and Colorful Bedroom Refresh . We had redone her room several years before, but it needed a few improvements such as a bigger bed, new headboard, new bedding and different nightstands . (We later added the marquee light over her bed, this was just a quick Instagram photo.) Not surprisingly, many of this year's makeovers centered around my Master Bedroom Makeover this past Spring, since that was probably my biggest project of the year. $20 Shiny Brass Chandelier Makeover - from shiny and swirly to warm gold and modern. Orange-y Oak Armoire Makeover - My dad made this massive armoire from scratch so it will always be in our family, but the orange tone had to go! This was my first experience using gel stain and I loved it. Dated coloni......

BEST OF 2015 {STYLE & MISC.}
Welcome back to the Best of 2015 week here at D&T! Yesterday I shared my top DIY Projects from 2015 , and today I wanted to recap my favorite posts that focus on styling, home tours, and a few miscellaneous posts too. I began the year shopping the house and changing things around for my Winter Living Room . Even though it looked bleak outside, there was no shortage of color inside. As I pack away the Christmas decorations today, I'm ready to get past the mess and back to the pretty! This Easter Table was one of my all time favorites... how could it not be with blue, white, kelly green, and gold? And if you need a fantastic recipe to fill up those plates for Easter Brunch, try this Easy Bacon and Cheese Quiche . It's one of my favorites for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! As the trees outside are currently coated with ice, I'm kind of wishing it was time for another Summer Home Tour right about now! We......

BEST OF 2015 {DIY PROJECTS}
Hello there sweet readers! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, celebrated with family and friends, and enjoyed some time off. We sure did and are! As we approach a new year with loads of exciting things in store, I thought it appropriate to spend some time looking back on all that was accomplished this year. I'll have several "Best of 2015" posts this week, starting today with my favorite DIY projects from the year. After rescuing this gorgeous antique dresser from a neighbor's trash pile, I put my DIY skills to work to make this faux marble top , saving hundreds of dollars for what a real marble top would have cost to replace the broken one. My daughter's Christmas gift to me last year is still one of my favorite accessories. These pom pom coasters are super easy to make and tons of fun to display... and use! By adding hardware I upcycled a cutting board into a pretty wood serving tray . With just a few mi......

HOSTING TIPS WITH AT HOME
Today I'm happy to be over on the At Home Stores blog (formerly Garden Ridge) sharing 5 of my favorite hosting tips. You might find some helpful ideas if you're hosting friends or family in the next week or so, but I've also included some practical tips that will carry on through the year to come. To be a good hostess you don't need the perfect dishes or menu or decorations or table setting, you just need to be willing to open your home and your heart to others, because you home is where people can truly get to know you. Come join me over At Home , and if you're not accustomed to opening your home to others I hope you'll be encouraged to invite someone over! ...

WHAT I WORE TO GO SAILING WITH THE SCOTTS
I know we're all in Christmas mode, but right about now I'm WISHING I was headed out on a tropical vacation! I thought we'd escape reality a bit today and I'd show you a few of the outfits I wore on our recent cruise , sailing with the Property Brothers and other design personalities on a cruise organized by HGTV. I was honored to be asked to be a part of a panel of bloggers invited to share at various breakout sessions as part of the programming on the cruise. ( *This post contains affiliate links, including Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. Read my full disclosure policy here .) I'm venturing out a bit, and I think this is my first official full fashion post! Don't worry, this blog will still be more home related than anything else, but I love clothes too! I'm over 40, shop with a budget in mind, and could stand to lose 15 pounds, but I still like to look cute and feel good in what I'm wearing. I bet ......
