FALL HOME TOUR 2018- FRONT PORCH AND ENTRY

Welcome to this year's Fall Home Tour!  I'm probably the very last blogger to post a Fall tour (we've been busy and it took me a while to get inspired!), but I hope you enjoy it and get some ideas for future reference anyway.  Today I'm sharing the Front Porch and Entry- no traditional yellows and browns here! (*This post may contain affiliate links, read my full disclosure policy here.)

My ferns are usually still going strong through late Fall, and I can't bear to get rid of them yet so I just work around them.   Same with the geraniums!  The pink flowers fit in so I decided to save the money I usually spend on mums and keep them too. The weather has been so crazy this year I can't believe we still have so many things blooming.

You might remember these cute squirrels from previous years, but this year they got a new coat of pink paint (seen earlier this season here, with a few more Fall decorating ideas)!

I mentioned the painted pumpkins and this wreath in yesterday's post, I altered it a bit from it's original design and now it's a happy addition to the blue front door (color is SW Dignity Blue).

It gets dark so early in the Fall, I like adding some string lights to the porch for a softer lighting option than the regular porch light.  Love how they make the porch glow!

Moving inside the front door to the Entry-

I kept things simple with a few pumpkins that match the ones on the porch and some coxcomb stems.  I've never grown them before this year and they're my absolute new favorite!  I'm saving the seeds and planting lots more next year.

Honestly, this was my 3rd attempt with a Fall vignette on this dresser, things just weren't feeling right but I'm happy with how this arrangement turned out.

Tomorrow I'll share the rest of the tour, here's a sneak peek from the Living Room.  See you then!

A FEW THINGS: PILLOWS, FALL BREAK, FAMILY & PUMPKINS

Occasionally I have a some things to tell you that don't warrant their own blog post, so "A Few Things" is my opportunity to share all of those random bits and pieces with you and catch you up on what's happening around our house. (*This post may contain affiliate links, read my full disclosure policy here.)

LET'S TALK PILLOWS!

It's no secret that I love experimenting with new colors and pattern combos, and the changing of seasons is the perfect excuse to add in some new pillow covers.  I've been sewing for Fall, and thought you might enjoy this video tutorial that I shared on my Instagram Stories.  Click here and then click on the circle photo below my picture that says "pillow tutorial" underneath to view.  I made them with custom piping and zippers, which just takes a bit of practice and isn't too hard at all.

THE PLAID PINEAPPLE- PRODUCTS WITH A PURPOSE

As we near the holidays and you begin to gather gifts and accessories for the season,  I'm encouraging you to shop with a purpose!  Today I'm sharing a few favorites from The Plaid Pineapple, a shop and online store that I partner with periodically to share some of their current products and what they're up to.  I've shared more details about the purpose of the shop and how they do business in a previous post, but basically it's a ministry where all of the profits go to further the Good News of Jesus around the world by meeting people's every  day needs in practical way.  That might be purchasing a water buffalo (their livelihood) for a family who lost everything in the earthquake in Nepal, it might be buying mosquito netting for families to help prevent diseases, or it might be training women in poverty stricken villages in a specific skill so that they can work and help provide for their family.  So, I'm happy to do my part to support this ministry by sharing it with all of you!  I mean, shopping for the cutest things while making a difference around the world is a win-win, right?

The first thing I have to share with you is the sweetest blue and white pillow, I fell in love immediately when I spotted it.  Of course, the colors fit right in at my house, but the winter scene and the church and the darling little deer and family going to church just made me smile.  This is the perfect pillow to mix in for Christmas and through the winter, seasonal yet elegant!  You'll see it on my sofa in my Christmas home tour (maybe, I really like it right here too!).

CLASSIC PLAID FALL OR THANKSGIVING TABLESCAPE

Today I'm helping to wrap up the last day of the Set + Styled Thanksgiving Blog Hop hosted by Designthusiasm that's been going on all week. If you've arrived from Styled With Lace, thank you so much for coming! There have been so many impressive Fall entertaining and tablescape ideas already shared, this tour's a one stop shop for all of the holiday hosting inspiration you need!  Last year I used untraditional colors for Fall, but this year a classic plaid combo for my Fall/Thanksgiving tablescape was speaking to me.

DIY REVERSIBLE TABLE RUNNER TUTORIAL

Since most are neutral colors and or not my style, I have a hard time finding ready-made table runners.  So, I recently used some of my fabric scraps to make my own!  And, I used a different fabric on each side so I can have two totally different looks with only one piece.  Here's my tutorial if you want to try making your own DIY reversible table runner.

A FEW THINGS... EVENT DECOR, FAMILY, TIPS, AND A DOUBLE FEATURE WITH BHG!

Occasionally I have a some things to tell you that don't warrant their own blog post, so "A Few Things" is my opportunity to share all of those random bits and pieces with you.  Today I have a little bit of everything to talk about, including some exciting news! (*This post may contain affiliate links, read my full disclosure policy here.)

I know that many of you who follow along here like to get simple new ideas for banquet or party decor, possibly even for church gatherings.  Last weekend I attended our retreat for ministry wives across our state, and snapped a few photos of the tables to share with you.  Each table either had a wood charger or a piece of burlap fabric as the foundation for the centerpiece.  Then, there was a lantern filled with battery operated twinkle lights or candles, a few hydrangea stems in a mason jar (we cleaned out Trader Joes!), and a piece of artwork scattered around on some of the tables.  Simple but pretty!
