DIY LEOPARD FEATHER POM POM SHOES- LOOK FOR LESS

In the midst of larger home decor projects, sometimes it's fun to stop and do a quick craft project once in a while.  This DIY leopard feather pom pom shoe project took me less than 5 minutes yesterday... so quick that I made several pairs!

THIS WEEK'S PROJECT- PATTERNED BOOKCASE BACKS

Last year when I painted the living room bookshelves white, I knew I wanted to do something fun on the back of them, I just wasn't sure what yet.  So, I left the backs Urbane Bronze until I was inspired to change them.  I'm making a few changes in the living room this Spring, so I'm kicking off a little mini makeover in there with this project.

BRASS PENDANT LIGHTS IN THE KITCHEN

Today I have a kitchen update to share with you.  I'm almost embarrassed to write this post... if you've been around a while you'll know that this is the fourth time I've changed out the pendant lights over the kitchen island since we moved some of the can lights and installed the original set five years ago.  I'm sure I've said it before, but I'm not a pro decorator.  I try things around my home all the time and if they don't end up working out, I learn a lesson from it and move on and try something different.  This is definitely a case of if at first you don't succeed, try, try again!

Here's a little lighting recap if you don't remember.  I started out with thrifted lantern fixtures, replaced those down the road with these lotus fixtures (which I LOVED but ultimately decided they were too small for the space), then repainted the lanterns (I experimented with red) and put them back up...then re-painted them again, this time gold! I did like the style of the lanterns and the gold color, but I finally figured out that I needed something more solid and substantial than the open frame of the lanterns.  The kitchen area is so open that the pendants needed to have a bit more presence to get the attention they deserved.

VALENTINE'S DAY HEART SHAPED SUGAR COOKIES- DOUBLE DOOZIES STYLE!

Growing up, I remember my sister's favorite treat to get at the mall was always a double doozie cookie.  I always preferred the bag of mini cookies, but later in life she swayed me to her side... double doozie cookies are delicious!  Rather than the traditional chocolate chip, I thought it would be festive to assemble some double doozie sugar cookies for Valentine's Day.

VALENTINE'S DAY TABLE FOR TWO

As a couple, my husband and I usually don't celebrate Valentine's day on the actual day.  We like to go out a few days before or after to beat the crowds.  So, for the last I don't know how many years, we have a family dinner on Valentine's Day.  That's all well and good, but this year I decided to set up a special spot for just the two of us.

HAPPENINGS ON THE HOMEFRONT |6|

Hello everyone!  Today I'm catching you up on what's going on around our house... projects in process and little updates in our family life that some of you enjoy reading.

After adding it in at Christmas, I've really been loving the hot pink/red combo.  Last year I began adding in a touch of hot pink when I got my new rug in the Entry and now I'm adding in a little bit more in other areas of the house.  On our last trip to Ikea I found these new hot pink pillow covers (love the $4 Gurli covers...available in so many colors!) and bought a few.  I planned to monogram them and when I came across this pagoda frame design I thought it would be perfect.  I used the largest size that my hoop would allow and first thought it might be too small, but it's grown on me and I like the subtle tone on tone detail that the red thread adds.
