SIMPLE OFFICE REFRESH WITH NEW ACCESSORIES

It happens every year, just like I mentioned in this post.  When Christmas is over and the decorations are packed away, it's nice to look around with fresh eyes and consider changes that can be made here and there.  You might not have the desire, time, or budget for an entire room makeover, but something as small as adding in a few new accessories can make such a difference in your space.  I decided that our Office/Media Room/Craft Room/Music Room (whatever you want to call it...it has lots of uses!) needed a little refresh.  Although I have a complete makeover planned in my head for this room someday, it's low on our list of priorities right now.  With some cleaning out, rearranging, and adding in a few new pieces from At Home Stores, our room got a fresh new look!

VALENTINE'S DAY MANTEL AND DIY NO SEW GARLAND

It seems like we just packed up the Christmas decorations, so it's hard to believe that Valentine's Day is right around the corner!  I got a little crafty with a DIY no sew garland and decked out the mantel for the upcoming holiday.

LATEST SECONDHAND FINDS

Happy Wednesday, I hope you all enjoyed the tour of The Merc yesterday!  I loved reading the comments from some of you who have visited, also.

I have a quick post for you today, I just wanted to share a few of the treasures I found this past week from several different places.  I'm glad that some of you have mentioned you enjoy seeing this kind of posts, I also like to see what others have scored secondhand as well.  It's so fun to see all of the unique items that people find (and the possibilities they see in someone else's "trash")!

First off, I saw this vintage brass peacock fireplace screen advertised on Craigslist.  It was in a booth at an antique mall that I hadn't been to before, so I was excited to check out a new-to-me place.  Not to mention, I've been on the lookout for one of these screens for a long time!  Usually, the size or price isn't right, or I don't like the decorative details.  Everything was just right about this one!

A TOUR OF THE PIONEER WOMAN MERCANTILE

Lots of good people have come from Oklahoma.  Baseball players Johnny Bench and Mickey Mantle.  Actor and director Ron Howard. Olympic gymnast Shannon Miller.  Actor Brad Pitt.  Basketball player Blake Griffin. Actor Chuck Norris.  Singer and performer Kristin Chenoweth.  Astronaut Shannon Lucid, and Humorist Will Rogers.  Not to mention Reba, Carrie, Garth, Vince, Toby, & Blake!  But in the world of the internet, perhaps there's no bigger jewel in Oklahoma's crown than Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman!

The Pioneer Woman was the very first blog I started reading about 8 years ago.  Our local paper did a story on her when she was coming out with her first cookbook, and after checking out her blog, just like many other people, I was quickly hooked.  Reading about a ranch family's life in the (familiar) country is fascinating, not to mention my appreciation of Ree's sense of humor, devotion to her friends and family, stunning photography, and the mouth-watering recipes that she shares.

TWENTY BEAUTIFUL BARSTOOLS

I've been on the hunt for some new bar stools for quite a while. The ones I have currently were a Craigslist purchase that I planned to make over, but that never happened!  Our barstools are in the center of the living room/kitchen, so they come in handy for extra seating when we have guests.  Because of that, I'd like to find something that's really comfortable, so I'm looking for upholstered seats with a back.  I thought I'd share some of my favorites that I've come across in my search in case you're searching too!

INSPIRATION FOR A NEW YEAR

Hello friends, my heart is full after yesterday's post.  Thank you all so much for your sweet comments and joining in our celebration of our son.  I'm often hesitant to post many personal things here, but you all were such kind readers and I truly appreciate how your graciously receive those posts when I do.

Now, on to more decorating talk!  As Christmas comes to a close each season and a new year begins, I always look around and get the itch to see what I can change around the house.  Nothing major, just rearranging or switching accessories or adding a pop here and there.

Currently, I'm craving even more color and pattern!  You might think...how is that possible?  Actually, I do have a pretty neutral base in my home, with the accessories being the main source of color and pattern.

SIXTEEN

I'm not sure how this day is already here, but we've blinked a few times and our sweet baby boy is 16 today.  Thank you for indulging me today as I gush and share about our boy...he is the "dimples" in Dimples and Tangles, after all!

MY FIVE FAVORITE ORGANIZING TOOLS

Welcome to a new year of My Five Favorites!  Pam from Simple Details, Lisa from Shine Your Light, Kris from Driven by Decor and I are all so excited to be back with you today.  Since it's January, when many feel the need to purge and organize, we're sharing our five favorite tools that help keep us organized with you today.

We're so happy to have Erin from Sunny Side Up joining us as our guest host today.  Erin is a master organizer and has so many good tips to share with us!  She says she likes to keep all of the counters in her gorgeous kitchen cleared because she feels organized if her kitchen is clean, no matter what is going on in the rest of the house.  I like that philosophy (and need to try that tactic out!)!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! TRANSITIONING FROM CHRISTMAS TO WINTER DECOR

Hi there everyone, and Happy 2017!!  I hope your holidays were festive and fun!  I took full advantage of a technology break, and am back today with a slow start back to blogging.  My kids are still out of school until Thursday so we'll be making the most of these last few days.  Today I just wanted to show you a few shots around the house of how I transitioned from Christmas to Winter.  I used many of the same accessories, but switched some things around and pared back the vignettes and colors to calm everything down a bit for January.

First off, I will never ever tire of ornate gold frames, especially with chalkboards in them!  I enjoyed this one hanging over the mantel so much throughout the Christmas season that I switched the message and kept it there.
