BEVERAGE CART OUTDOOR SERVING STATION

Since we've completed our back patio we've been enjoying using it ourselves, but also have been entertaining outside often.  Even with all of the furniture and accessories in place, one thing I've been missing is a little serving station out there.

We don't have a lot of open wall space (it's mostly windows) to put a serving surface up against, so I thought that a bar cart might be a good option.  It doesn't take up a lot of space, and the wheels make it easy to move it around to use indoors or outdoors, wherever it's needed.

I started out looking for a more traditional 2 level bar cart, but when I saw the design of this one from At Home I fell in love!  As it turns out, the third shelf comes in really handy for holding even more entertaining necessities and goodies.

Just in case you want to look for the same cart, I will let you know that the finish was originally a gorgeous pewter-y type silver color.

So pretty on it's own, but I really wanted a gold finish (imagine that!).  Since I was crushing hard on this style, I sprayed on a quick coat of my favorite gold paint and it worked like a charm.

I knew right away that I wanted a pair of big beverage canisters to sit on the top.  I can't believe as much as we entertain that I've never had some of these!  No more re-filling smaller pitchers when the tea or lemonade runs out!  I've always had an eye out, but I either couldn't find a pair, or the style I liked, or some at the right price.  At Home had almost too many choices, and the price was right on all of them- it was hard to pick which one I wanted!  One nice thing is that these came with a stand, so you don't have to worry about putting them along the edge of a counter or shelf so a cup can fit under the spout.  The added height makes it easy to dispense.

In addition to providing space for drinks, I wanted a little spot to house a few snacks for hungry kids, too!  At Home has an entire aisle filled with various storage containers, so I picked up a few air tight ones to store munchies in.  The metal lids on the tall containers got a little gold makeover too!

To finish off my beverage station area, I found lots of fun party goods while wandering aisle after aisle.  This darling pineapple banner (mixed with a tissue tassel garland I already had) was the inspiration for the other colors I used, then I found the straws and colored plastic snack cups to go with it.

The gold printed pineapple napkins continued the theme, and those darling coasters on top double as a weight to keep the napkins from blowing away.

The final accessory I couldn't resist is the "Be Kind" banner that I embellished it with some Sharpie polka dots.  Let me just say, with two teenagers in the house, lately that's been our family motto, and we all need the reminder!

Even in the winter months when we're not entertaining outside, I totally plan to use this cart in the kitchen at the end of the counter.  It will be perfect for the holidays to load up with drinks and supplies to keep the counters clear and ready for other uses.

If you have a local At Home store, be sure to check it out for some of the best home finds around!  It's literally HUGE and offers just about anything you need for your home- indoors and out- in a wide variety of decor styles.  It usually takes me at least an hour to walk though it, just to make sure I'm not missing anything!

If you liked this post, I'd love it if you pin it... thanks!

    1. Thank you! I don't know much about it. It was my husband's aunt's and when we moved her into assisted living I got to take it. It might have been an ice bucket but it's pretty small for that, and the lid was either broken or missing. It's such a cute piece!

    2. It looks like a very rare Fenton hobnail vaseline (uranium) glass cookie jar, it's stunning but it is missing it's lid. The blue version with it's lid recently sold for over $500, the green is even more rare and I wager would bring even more money even without it's lid. It is stunning!

    1. Sure! It's Rustoleum's Metallic Gold. I always use this one, http://amzn.to/2a6TDWd but ran out on the bar cart and Walmart only had this one- http://amzn.to/29H13kN I really loved it too, and don't see much difference between the two except the second one might be the tiniest bit shinier!
