THE PRAIRIE AT POST: A MODERN FARMHOUSE COMMUNITY

Today this post is for my local friends in and around Oklahoma City, or anyone planning a move to the area in the near future.  I'm pleased to help spread the word about a brand new community being developed called The Prairie at Post.

This development is the brain child of our long time friends and their business partners (he's the author of the 5 Gears book that I have recommended to you, and I also shared their previous home in London with you recently), and we had the privilege of touring the property with them over the weekend when they had an "Open House" to view the land.

Prospective and curious homebuyers were invited to walk the almost 40 acres to get a feel for the lay of the land and view the proposed plans for the lots and neighborhood layout.

The vision for this community is for neighbors with similar family values to come together to share meals, chat on porches, help each other, and generally do life alongside one another.   The architecture of the homes will be a modern farmhouse design, a first in central Oklahoma for this type of community.

The Prairie is located in a rapidly expanding and desirable area of town within the Edmond School District, near local shopping areas, historic Route 66, and with easy access to Lake Arcadia and it's running and biking trails.

The road leading into the community will be under this tree covered arbor...  it feels like the passageway to your own secret wonderland!

There are 3 ponds throughout the property which will allow for canoeing, fishing, and add charm to the picturesque atmosphere.

With 1 1/2-2 acre lots, along with common areas for everyone to enjoy, there's plenty of room to spread out and let the kids roam, all while maintaining a close-knit community feel.

Also included among the common areas will be a meeting house with indoor and outdoor dining areas, an exercise room, community gardens, and walking trails.

I was surprised to learn that of the lots already sold, there is a mix of families with children of all ages as well as older couples who are building here with plans for their grandchildren to enjoy this beautiful land with them.

Read much more about plans for The Prairie as well as contact information on their website here.  But hurry, in the past few weeks since lot sales started, over half of them have already been sold!

Although a bit difficult to envision a community springing up out of these native grasses, I can't wait to see the homes and common areas emerge and develop into a premier community showcasing Oklahoma's breathtaking sky, land, and friendly people!  I'll be sure to update you all as it all comes together, I know we'll all ooh and ahh over a tour when everything is complete!

  1. I went to college at Oklahoma Christian for a year and a half back in 1991-1992 and have fond memories of Lake Arcadia and Edmond in general. As much as I'm a Texan through and through, I always thought Edmond was beautiful. :)

    1. It really is! It's a little brown right now for winter, but the rest of the year this land will be stunning. Lake Arcadia is gorgeous!

    1. I'm not aware of one in Stillwater, but maybe! Carlton Landing on Lake Eufala is a community with a similar set-up and ideas, although the lots here are much larger and there will be fewer homes.
