BEST OF THE NEST LINK PARTY {AUGUST}

It's Friiiiiiiiday!  Woo-hoo!  And even better, a holiday weekend!  How about we kick it off with some awesome projects and reading material for all of your extra lounging time?  Sounds like a good idea to me! My favorite project from August was a recent one, my newly recovered fur ottomans.  If you missed that post, I used a fur coat that I had from the thrift store and a hefty dose of inspiration from a very pricey Horchow bench. Although summer is nearing an end and we were all still super busy with activities, but my co-hosts managed to crank out some amazing projects this month. Kris hung a set of vintage-inspired nesting crates on the wall in her kitchen.  In addition to adding some warmth and texture, they are super functional!  They double as storage for her high-use items for the table.  Smart and beautiful! KEEPING A THRIFTY EYE OUT FOR...

Call me crazy, but if I came across just the right piece, I think I'd switch out my china cabinet. I still love it, but this image has me dreaming of a slightly different style... Instagram - Parker Kennedy Living Some furniture is never safe for long around here...much to my hauling-back-and-forth husband's chagrin.  Let's just not tell him about this post.  OK?  OK!! BSHT: FAVORITE ROOM EDITION - OUR ENTRY

I am so thrilled and honored to be participating in my third home tour hosted by my friend, sweet Mama-to-Be Lindsay from The White Buffalo Styling Company.  She has assembled a first-rate group of bloggers that I am so privileged to be a part of.  Thank you Lindsay!  Did you catch all of the tours yesterday?  They were all crazy good!  This week is so much fun and I'm looking forward to seeing what all of the other favorite rooms are too.  If you're continuing on the tour today from This, That, and Life , or any of the other blogs, Welcome!  I'm so happy that you're here. My current (it changes often) favorite "room" is our Entry. But before I give you all the details, let's start from outside the Entry.  As an extension of our Entry, I also love our front porch.  I'm so thankful that the previous owner chose to use brick on the porch.  I buy 2 massive ferns from Lowe's every Spring, and they're worth every penny.  For whatev...

HORCHOW INSPIRED FUR OTTOMANS {SUMMER STYLE SOIREE}

It's so hard to believe, but it's already time for this year's final Summer Style Soiree project!  Today, our inspiration is none other than the iconic James Dean.  To me, when I hear his name I automatically think... movie star, Hollywood, fame, glamour, and of course, a leather jacket. Waaaay back in the Spring, I threw out a little dilemma and asked for suggestions from you guys, and you came through with some great ideas!  As a refresher or reminder, the topic of discussion was the ottomans that I've had for several years, and had covered with faux fur way back when.  It's been time to replace the now-matted down fur and I wanted to use a thrifted fur coat that I've had on hand.  I had enough to cover the tops, but couldn't figure out what to do with the sides. When I put out the call for ideas, a dear friend sent me these benches that she had seen at Horchow , and I knew it was the perfect solution!   So, when I thought about this month's...
