12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS 2014 TOUR OF HOMES

Welcome friends!  I'm so glad you're here today for the 12 Days of Christmas Tour of Homes, and part 1 of my Christmas Home Tour!  I'd like to give a big thank you to Jenny from Evolution of Style for organizing this tour and inviting me to join.  We had such fun last year I jumped at the chance!

Come on in, and stay as long as you'd like!

I saved some of the curly willow branches that I used for my Halloween Home Depot Style Challenge.  They are my favorite pot fillers in the winter, paired with fresh cedar branches trimmed from trees along the creek behind my house.

Last year I stuck with a palette of black, white, and metallics, but I missed the red I've used for years.  This year traditional red and green abounds, mixed in with a bit of plaid, blue and white pottery, and black and white accents.

I recently completed a mini kitchen makeover (if you can call painting cabinets a mini job...whew!) and it was so fun to dress it up for Christmas!

Thank you to my sweet friend Emily from Eleven Gables for this fun teapot... besides being perfect for my kitchen it whistles loudly and everyone in the family wants to use it!

Earlier in the year I got this fabulous mixer, and couldn't resist selecting my favorite color rather than a more practical, neutral choice.  There's always spray paint if I ever change my mind, but I haven't been sorry yet!  And, it fits right in for Christmas.  Several weeks ago Craftberry Bush offered this darling printable as a free download, so all I needed was a cute frame for an instant fun vignette.  The rainboots are a Smith & Hawken ornament from Target that I bought a few years ago.

The flour and sugar even got a bit of special attention for Christmas-

Did you read December's Better Homes and Gardens?  I thought it was extra good this month and found lots of inspiration in it's pages, including a similar tiered milk glass display that I adapted to use in my kitchen.

After spending the Fall on my mantle, my Homegoods planter head got yet another coat of paint and a few ornaments adorning his head so he's ready for the season.

You can see a little peek of this year's mantle behind his head in the previous photo.

For the eating area in the kitchen, I threw together all of the elements that I'm using this year... plaid, red, white, green, and black and white.

This plaid wrapping paper from Homegoods made the perfect runner, and I layered Ikea chargers, red transfer ware plates, and Spode salad plates that are on loan indefinitely from my Mom.  I'm happy to have them living at my house for a while!

I picked up this metal tree at a thrift shop over the summer and used it as part of the centerpiece, as well as my favorite vintage choir boy candleholders that I bought from a rummage sale a few years ago.  I love the sweet expressions on their faces.

Well, I think that's enough for today, I'm sure you have a long to-do list to get to like I do!  I'll share the rest of my tour on Thursday, and would love to see you back here then.
