My Fall Decor

There was a time when I had nearly as many decorations for Fall as I do for Christmas.  I love decorating for this season but this year found myself wanting things to be simpler and cleaner than usual.  So, I focused on just a few areas around our family room, kitchen, and entry, and called it done.  Here's what I ended up with.

Entry Table-Hung my coffee filter wreath that I made last year, switched out my lamps and filled my huge shell with pumpkins, pinecones, seed pods, and a little bird on a nest.
These lamps came down from my mantel and I switched the shade out with this one that I recovered.  I found a straight shade at Ross for $2.99 (score!), covered it with spray adhesive and burlap, and then trimmed it out with fringe and ribbon from Hobby Lobby.  I love the warm colors with my fall decorations.

Lamp Table-I just switched what was inside of my glass domes with a few goodies.  The acorns were a garland that I cut apart and I have gobs of fake orange pumpkins, so I took a few this year and spray painted them in metallic colors.  My white lamps that are always on this table seemed a little stark, so I wrapped a strip of burlap around them and tied it with jute.  It slips right off when I'm ready to pack up Fall.

This dome sits on a large tray on my coffee table.  It's filled with a nest, pumpkins, a little bird a some great buck-eyes from my husband's aunt's house in Texas.

A couple of my built in shelves.  That owl was a thrift find that was supposed to be a gift for my sister.  Sorry, Sarah.  Doesn't he look just like the Tootie Pop "How Many Licks" owl?

I have an odd-shaped little nook in the hall leading to the master bedroom that I just filled with a variety of pumpkins, birds, and pine cones.

Kitchen bar-I could never have too many pheasant feathers!  I love them all in a big group.  The darling pumpkin chalkboard was a gift from a sweet friend for my birthday a few years ago.  Caleb personalized it for us and I've never wanted to erase it!

Yes, these are all TECHNICALLY Christmas ornaments, but they are some of my favorites and I can't stand to only have them out for a few days each year.  I chose all of the autumn colored ones and grouped them together in an antique dough bowl on my kitchen table.  I sprinkled gold jingle bells through all of the gaps to line the bottom.  The kids get a kick out of shaking the table and making all of the bells jingle.

More coffee filter wreaths that I made for the pantry doors.  If you have never made one, try it!  I found this tutorial helpful, although I just used straight pins rather than safety pins.  I have also recently seen a great tip to use a pool noodle instead of buying a foam wreath.  It's cheap (you probably have one in your garage!) and you can make it any size you wish, just duct tape it together on the ends after you trim it to the desired length.  I found the brown filters at Homeland or Super Target.

These little guys are hanging out around the kids' chalkboard.

Finally, here's my Fall mantel.  Go here for more details and pictures of that.

I hope that you have some new ideas if you have not done your decorating for Fall yet.  In the next post I'll share a few ideas for decorating your front porch.
